When he performed Safety Zone at Lalapalooza, at one point he was looking up and singing to his fellow band member Jimin, who had flown out to support him out of the blue. Everyone, staff included, had remarked on how hard Jhope was working to prepare for that performance and how much it was taking out of him, and the moment Jimin showed up he got so much more cheerful again and reassured. His members really are his safe zone.

@@dogma7346 yes all members of BTS are involved, known for being a self-produced kpop group. 3/7 of them (who were active in the underground art scene before BTS) are heavily involved in the production of hundreds of BTS songs that have been released the past 10 years. Between juggling all that, they make mixtapes in their free time, with zero intervention from their company. All 7/7 of them have written /contributed to lyrics for BTS music. 1 of them is also a record producer that makes songs for other artists in Korea and did instrumentals for mobile games and Samsung ringtone. Besides music, they also like to be involved in other ways such as dance choreography, concept design and videography (directing their own music video). Bunch of hardworking passionate lads, I feel tired just keeping up with the stuff they put out lol.

Yes, BTS took a ton of hate and pushback from the music industry for (among other things) not fitting in any boxes, writing their own music challenging social ills and speaking truth to power, and being from a small, broke independent label that prized artistic freedom and their authentic voices. Their come up story is amazing.

Loving the channel, because so few reactors are willing to do full album reactions from the jump, and as you now know, j-hope's music is deep, thoughtful, and these albums have a complete message from beginning to end. (Every BTS and solo member album does, too) So many people let the Korean lyrics or the assumptions about Korean idol groups, or even BTS's popularity, get in the way of them listening. So, THANK YOU for your time, enthusiasm, and hard work to do these album reactions. You have so many more surprises, laughs, comfort, joy, and love coming your way along this BTS path. It's very overwhelming because there is just so much to digest about BTS. Flexing in Airplane pt.1 (and Pt.2) was indeed needed. if you follow their journey they came from a really small label, living in a shoebox of a dorm 7 adult males, all together, while being in the industry that flexes wealth and luxury and at the same time being subjected to hate for any and all causes being poor included. They all had that phase. “Big house, big cars, big rings” being a catch phrase in several of their songs , a whole footage of one of his band members (V) gifting another band member (Jimin) an original luxury brand sweater. Then once money and fame were secured they all fell into selfdoubt and trying to find their true selves. There are whole albums that circle around Carl Jung archetypes: hence all the questioning in “What if..” and trying to find out whether these are all his natural traits or a persona he made up for audience and is projecting on himself. And you kinda get the answer in Future. The same way he asks the question in Arson “Should I burn brighter or put out the fire?” And you get the answer in “On the street” that he’s ready to step out for a while but with that he’s leaving his craft “on the streets” - thus tiktok challenge and he keeps his fans, his band, his label in his life decisions and judging by j.cole’s part he will get back to feed his hunger MORE (cue in yeah I’m thirsty, my work makes me breath so I want more) - well at least that’s how I interpret it :D

If you wanna see how jhope evolved over the years, probably best to listened to BTS Cypher 1 - 4. The BTS Cyphers are series of 4 Cypher that was included right from their 2nd album and onwards (2013 - 2016). You can definitely see how jhope progressed along the way. His first solo output that is outside of BTS albums was called 1VERSE (2015), a cover of El Chapo by The Game & Skrillex. Hoping you would react to that one too 🙏

Hey Tribe Loui, I've been really enjoying you getting to know J-Hope, I can't wait to see you dive deeper into the rabbit hole that is BTS! Not sure if someone else has explained this already, but to give you a bit of a preface, BTS is a South Korean group consisting of 3 rappers (RM, Suga, J-Hope) and 4 singers (Jin, Jimin, V, Jungkook). They are signed to Hybe Labels, which began as a small label near the brink of bankruptcy. BTS is known to the western public as K-pop (literally Korean pop), but k-pop is a very broad term that better describes the current idol-pop industry in Korea rather than the “pop” genre. BTS themselves started as a rap/hip-hop centered group, with their sound evolving over the years to a really wide range of sounds. I think most of the fandom will agree that one of BTS’ fortes are their lyricism and message. BTS puts a lot of importance in their albums as a whole, incorporating themes and storytelling for each of their albums. All the members participate in writing, composing, and producing, with the three rappers taking the lead in most of their work. You might have noticed that ARMY is really passionate and vocal about BTS, a big part of that is that there is a lot of prejudice towards BTS because of their nationality, the non-conforming type of masculinity they embody, and the fact that a they have a lot of female fans. A lot of us know the immense talent and range they have, so it’s really frustrating when people refuse to listen to them because of how they look, or because of their preconceived notions that their music is vapid, superficial bubble-gum pop, or because of the erroneous belief that they are “artificially made by big labels to appeal to teenagers” BTS’ catalog is so incredibly long, it’s hard to recommend a few things only, but based on your taste, I suggest you check out the other two rapper’s solo works. Let me mention that each of the members has solo songs within BTS’ discography as a whole, meaning BTS’ albums sometimes have tracks sang by only one member. Maybe you could start with Suga (who also goes by the alias Agust D), he has released two mixtapes (and we might get a new album soon…?), so you could give a listed to those. Some standouts for me would be Daechwita(must watch the music video), Strange, Interlude:Shadow (from BTS’ album Love Yourself: Tear). RM has release two mixtapes and one album, you should listed to all three of them, but if you absolutely must chose only one to listen to, you should check out his latest album Indigo, the whole thing is a masterpiece. I suggest you also check out some live BTS performances as an introduction to the group as a whole, their 2021 Festa Room Live is phenomenal, and so is their Tiny Desk performance. Another must watch is their Proof Live performance (search BTS (방탄소년단) ‘Proof’ Live 20220613 and you’ll find it). Some BTS songs I think you might enjoy are Black Swan, 134340, Persona, Ugh, Hip Hop Phile, Outro: Her, and their four cyphers. I do have to say, BTS music is better when experience in the context of their album, so maybe even react to all their albums! lol Anyways, I could make this comment 50 times as long with recommendations, but I guess I’ll stop here. One last thing, as you might have imagined, translations of their lyrics are not always super accurate, specially those color-coded lyric videos…their translations suck, often time they are straight up wrong. So I would suggest to stick to the official “Hybe Labels” or “BangtanTV” captions. A really useful resource I would recommend is Doolset Lyrics, it’s a blog run by an ARMY translator, that gives a lot of nuance and explanation to their lyrics, most of BTS’ releases are translated in her site.

You know, I never get tired of finding people who discover the members of BTS and end up doing down the rabbit hole… To see the same joy that I felt when I started connecting to them? It’s everything. I know we ARMYs can have a bad reputation for being mean, but for the most part, the majority of us only get mean in an act of fierce protectiveness over all seven of the boys, and for a good reason (which I see you’ve seen Taylor’s documentary, so you know some of the history now). There’s almost 100 million of us ARMYs, so I know even a small percent of bad apples has a lot of visibility when it comes to social media. However, just how most of us are are simply protective rather than nasty towards others, most of us enjoy seeing newcomers and how BTS’ music and positive message keeps spreading around the world. I’ve never felt this way about a group before, to think that they’re what the world needs, but I think a group like this is rare in itself. And so it always makes me happy to see people realize why we love them so much and come to love them as well. They’re honestly the best thing that’s ever happened to me over these last 32 years.

the fact that he started with j-hope, which seems to match his vibe perfectly, it's just so funny and amazing to me, like what are the odds?????????? i wonder if he became his bias over time btw, these reactions are so light and fun to watch, usually i focus on the reactors who dissect lyrics or the technicalities, because i feel that they pay a little more attention than the ones who just listen the music, bop their hands and say it's good at the end, but THIS, right here, this is pure good vibes and it's a great breath of fresh air.

For the next video (after hobipallooza) you can go with the three jhope solos from bts albums ( MAMA, just dance, ego ) and then do the same with the next two rappers (im going with feeling that your fav genre is hiphop or rap) : so if you take suga then his first mixtape 'agustd' and second 'D-2' and his solos feom bts albums: first love, seesaw, interlude shadow and last BUT DEFINITELY NOT THE LEAST RM first mixtape: mono second: indigo and his solos from bts albums: reflection, trivia love, persona And then go with them 3 together OR you could just wing it and go with your own choice and just do whatever you want.

Want something really old from jhope? Try the song 1 verse. As far as i remember, this was his 1st track ever outside of BTS. It was released on their soundcloud channel in 2015 and samples "El Chapo". Or you can dive into BTS discography in chronological order, they literally have no skips with title tracks or b-sides.

With BTS you can never guess what their next music is going to sound like. whatever you think you're going to get even with the teasers the actual song and album will ALWAYS break and go above and beyond your expectations. If you go by order of their albums and releases they're all so SO different you'll never get music from BTS that sounds similar to something they already released. They're always growing, always experimenting with different styles and sounds and always reinventing themselves.

I highly recommend you check out the live versions of these from J-hope's Lollapalooza performance next! It's for free on KZbin, the whole concert. As for BTS, maybe listen to Ddaeng. Best rap song of theirs. Mic Drop Remix MV is also great for all seven

Lollapalooza next. But also check out his performance at the 2022 MAMA. The Lollapalooza and MAMA performance were a few months apart but he grew so much in terms of his stage creativity and you’ll be able to see that

Adoro Hobi porque ele vai além do pop e suas músicas varia de estilo musical. Pra mim o solo do Jhope é o mais eclético e é o meu favorito.

Now you understand why j-hope is so precious to armys. He left so much to us before he goes to the military, his words to live by, he made sure that we would find comfort in his music while he goes away for awhile. Thanks for appreciating his artistry. 💜

He's an incredible artist, really. He made a lot of bops as a soloist and as a bts member. You can also check out Dionysus, a bts song that he composed!!!

You're right. JHope is definitely a multi layered Artist! He's only ONE of the 7 members of BTS. Imagine getting 7 different flavors from one amazing group?!!? 😁💜

I was so happy watching your reactions for his mixtape and this album, I couldn't take the smile of my face! I'm so happy more people are discovering how amazing j-hope is as a solo artist, honestly, I could cry. I hope you'll be able to check BTS's content as well, j-hope is still incredible within the group, just like the other six members! I've been an ARMY for years now and I still get immensely happy when more people can be touched by their songs, their art! They're awesome people as well, with really kind hearts and amazing work ethics, they are what they preach in their songs! Take care 💜

Jhope has an earlier mixtape Hope World, so you can check that out. The progression from that is insane, but it has some of my favorite Jhope songs. They also covered Jcole's born sinner called "Born Singer", and that might be a good place for your introduction to BTS the group. There is a recent live performace they did of it as well. They have like more than 250 group and solo songs, so it can be overwhelming. But Army will help you. There are also great fan-made documentaries about their meteoric rise and the individual members themselves if you are interested in their story. Also I'm enjoying the hell out of your chaotic energy, but then you hit us with some genuine insightful comments and also some flow at the end there! Ayyyy you niceee
