Je me souviens entendre cette chanson dans la première année. Je suis maintenant dans la 12e. Qu'est-ce que les années passent vite. Très belle chanson. Je suis fier d'être Canadien. St Jean D'arc avant, maintenant ESMB pour ma denière année.

Why do I find it easier to sing the French version than the English version when I don’t speak any French
@plantsandfish71975 жыл бұрын
May Morgan because songs are typically easier sung in its original form than its translated form. For example saying j’imagine 5 times is a lot smoother than saying I imagine 5 times.
@frasermaximehotmail4 жыл бұрын
in English, it,s more ''square'' (do-re-mi fa-sol'' at the right time....) french is really ''emotional!!! BUT your impression is probably just because it sounds good for you, but maybe it,s gonna be understandable for french people (i don,t know if this word exist… what I mean; propably nobody will understand what you trying to say! :p )…… send me a record (i speak french) and i'm gonna let you know if...it,s ok or not…. (don't forget that ricky martin in anglophone and is a sucess in spanish ;)…. we never know… ;) The prononciation is SO different between french and English… (and normally, learn french is harder than English…)

@clwgirl510 I know, but I would have preferred a less literal translation. Phrases like "....I choosed to do" make no sense. "I do it and I feel great!" doesn't exactly have the same tone that comes from the song. I feel like this was done quickly and not given a lot of thought.

I know that, I speak French. My issue is that, for all practical purposes, translation is not literal. It is not useful to anyone to translate things literally, there are many phrases that could have been chosen instead of the strange and incorrect ones I mentioned earlier that would be a true translation, just not 100% literal.

«J'imagine» is a projection in the future, just like the meaning of the word imagine in English. "I believe" translated in French would be «Je crois» which is less attractive, especially for a song. I guess the matter is, it's not poetic enough.

the world juniors is also a way you can see what russia has done over the years. they have beat team canada twice now over the last 2 year. one year they came back from a 3-0 deficit to win 5-3. you have to give props to the russians and not say they where lucky to win, because i bet if i reverse the psychology you would not say it was lucky would you. then last year world juniors they lost again to Russia.

canada is working hard but all they got is bronze, but not even close to come to china or the us. I think the translations were a little too literal and lose the poetry of the original French. A common problem in translation. P.S. As a musician, I really like the French version of this song far more than the English one, and it has nothing to do with the singers and everything to do with the backing track.

...Did you really just say what I think you did? Your ignorance is outstanding. Someone's nationality has nothing to do with their skill or talent in a sport. The only difference it makes is in the amount of funding they might receive towards training and the number and quality of opportunities available to them. Besides, for all the supposed American superiority that you imply, when was the last time the US won a gold medal in men's hockey? My point exactly.
