At the end, when they show the boys, l let out, with a fist pump to my heart, "that's my world cup soccer team." I wasn't looking, but I think they felt my raw emotion.

after partying in Toronto at Yonge/Dundas square, my girlfriend and I went to the subway and were waiting for the train. While waiting on the platform, the crowds on both sides of the tracks started belting out "O Canada" and continued singing it while boarding the trains. As we boarded, the passengers already seated joined in. I was in awe. Not many things bring a tear to my eyes but that moment did. So proud to be Canadian

I went to the 2010 Olympics it was one of the most amazing experience of my life. After attending I honestly wish I was Canadian. The pride for their country is amazing. I will never forget walking to a hockey game and the Canadian one had just got out and they had beat no one but the town of Vancouver had literally erupted. It was a seen I can't even explain but it made me want to be a Canadian so badly. The hospitality the Canadians showed was absolutely fabulous I had left my iPhone in a store in whistler by mistake and some kid turned it into the police it was amazing. There are so many others stories I can tell but I will never forget 2010. I plan to become a Canadian citizen one day as I have so much pride and love for the country.

I remember being a ten year old kid who had never seen the olympics when this event started, and five and half years later I am still so happy that I got to witness every part of the olympics, and even more happy that I am Canadian. We may trash each other about hockey, we may argue about which part of Canada is the best until our throats are dry, but when it really matters we all come together to support our country. And I will never forget jumping up and screaming with joy with my dad when Iginla and Crosby got the Golden Goal. It's stuff like this that makes me proud to be Canadian.

I was slightly older than you, but I experienced the same thing! It was hilarious looking back -- a fairly traditional Asian family who never jumps for joy for anything. Then suddenly, we heard "IGGY!" from Crosby and everyone in my family jumped so high and so much, that nails holding the floor boards down started to pop up a bit. The whole neighbourhood screamed and if you just opened the door, you heard screams from the neighbours. It was absolutely fantastic. No olympics has ever been the same since.

I basically lived on Granville street during these 2 weeks. Staying out till 3-5 AM and then go home and get maybe 4 hours of sleep and then and do it all over again the next night. The atmosphere that the city had become, I had never seen before in my time living here in Vancouver. I was 20 years old back then. It was the best time of my life. Watching the Gold Medal game between Canada and the US in mens hockey at Library Square and then pouring out onto Georgia street and bursting into singing O Canada. I will never forget these special 2 weeks ever.

Nathaniel12345678910 personally, from my 11yo Canadian point of view at that time, it was the unity. Alexandre Bilodeau had won the first ever Olympic gold medal for Canada on Canadian soil (which happened to be one of the very first medals to be given during the Olympics) and from then on we won 13 more golds. It felt like we were all a family. It’s the personal (tragic) story of Joannie Rochette who’s mother suddenly passed away shortly after landing in Vancouver to see her perform. It was this sentiment of happiness and togetherness. During the Olympics it felt as if, despite being the largest country in the world, we were a tightly knitted village full of support for our athletes. It’s a bit hard to put into words that specific sentiment of warmth and pride that was around.

I don't know if anyone who isn't Canadian can quite grasp what impact these Olympics had, but I'll try to sum it. I'll fail, but I'll try. In order to understand this, you have to understand that I'm an historian. If you had asked me what Canada was before these games, I'd have told you about the CN Tower, about the Peace Arch, about the Library of Parliament, about the Maple Leafs, about the Liberals, Conservatives, New Democrats, Greens, and the Bloc. I'd have mentioned the Pacific Scandal, and the Great War. I'd have spoken of John MacDonald, and Pierre Trudeau, and Kim Campbell. I'd speak of hockey, of Timmy's and of poutine. I'd have pointed to our ten beautiful provences and our three shining territories, and then, having pointed these all out, these and all the other things I could think of, I would look at you and say, "This is Canada." Now, after Vancouver, when someone asks me what Canada is, I look at the people around me, smile, and tell them, very simply, "WE are Canada."

The history leading to this Olympic is also critical to understanding its relevance. In the history of the Olympics only one country that hosted an had failed to win a gold. That was Canada and we did it twice; 1976 Montreal and 1988 Calgary. We never had much to cheer about in any Olympic save perhaps the heavily boycotted 1984 Los Angeles Games. It was quite embarrassing. The “Own the Podium” program changed all that with improved and better directed funding. The addition of sports where we could excel and the addition of NHL players made the lead up to Vancouver 2010 very promising. The result exceeded expectations in all aspects. The organization, Yanofsky’s inspiring tune, the celebratory Olympic village, the record setting number of Golds capped off with the most coveted prize of double hockey gold medals. Such an incredible event.

Awesome video. What an incredible 2 weeks, and what an awesome day that was. I remember watching this live; one of my favourite moments in television.

It may be a almost 2 months after this but it still makes you cry and really think about how it is amazing to be Canadian and how we must always remember!

What a great tribute to the games. I was fortunate enough to see a couple hockey games and see inside the Athletes Village in Whistler. Memories that are ingrained in my mind for years to come. The bonus is I was the guy in the video waving the Crosby Jersey at Molson Canadian Hockey House after Crosby's winning goal. We are all missing the Olympics here this week ;-(

I don't think there's ever going to be anything else that brings a country together with pride and passion than the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter games. Still brings tears to my eyes and it always will. Best Olympics ever.
