Madras (Chennai) 1984 - Small Group Discussion 1 - Living is a constant movement
Summary:
Would you agree that matter is solidified energy?
Knowledge is part of a material process, as thought.
When there is a recording process going on, knowledge is born.
Where there is movement there is also non-movement. When both run together harmoniously, life is something entirely different.
If there is no attachment, it does not mean lack of affection, love.
Freedom from attachment is death, non-movement.
Living and dying at the same time.
When there is gathering and letting go, there is no interval, it is constant movement. Holding separates the two. The holding is the ‘me’.
The holding makes the brain old and is a wastage of energy.
Note: One participant speaks in Hindi and is translated.

This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.
The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'
We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.
Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at digital@kfoundation.org

I wish there wasn't such a barrier of language, so both teachers could realise they were in sync with each other. The translators/participants failed to bridge the gap. Pandit ji said, in the beginning - 'We are not old, of 60 years. It is the "knowledge"(the accumulated) that tell us we are of 60.' JK said in the end - 'The brain doesn't grow old - It is the "Self"(the accumulated) that tells us we have grown' This was never a debate, one should be aware, where one must lose, as Pupul Jayakar kept insisting to Pandit Ji 'You must admit'. It was a discussion, a dialogue where everyone got to learn something. Glad to have found this talk. 🙏

This is always happens when scholars and learned people talk to enlightened beings. They have gathered all the information from outside about something, but the enlightened souls like Krishnamurti ji directly speak from their experiences. He directly encounter with what is there while so called scholars lose their ability to perceive something directly as they already know everything. Here pundit ji not interested in knowing the truth, he simple wants the acknowledgement of krishnamurti ji for what he believes in. Only the mind which is free from the dust of knowledge and conditioning can experience the reality. This is the problem of people, they listen what they want to listen. Discussions are meant to find out what is truth not to convince someone about what we believe in.

JK was not enlightened. He always said that, and he rejected that concept totally. JK understood the basic functioning of the brain at a much broader and deeper level than most of us. He was able to do that because he studied diverse systems in a more focused and deeper way. he did not allow traditions etc affect his learning. Most of us are always busy trying to defend our position, rather than learning. Learning requires tremendous attention and listening. Most people ae bad listeners. Most people want everything delivered quickly in an effective manner, without upsetting their Ego and preconditioning.

@@texastexas4541 was krishnamurti enlightened?? it's definitely subjective. From his lectures I perceive that he never spoke at a level of an enlightened being because he always tried to stay at the regular level to explain things at our level which is very inferior , basically our level is "hell level" because of all our defects (7 capital sins) . Krishnamurti knew our potential, but also knew of the almost impossibility to open our eyes to our potential. Just like Jesus Christ said "we will die in our sins" , our defects make us blind and krishnamurti knew it so that's why he was more into talking about our Psychology , he told us all the trash we have in our consciousness is our consciousness, in other words our consciousness is 100% corrupted from there the almost impossibility to understand Krishnamurti, he was just hoping for the miracle, Mother Mary 🙏💖 pray for us sinners

40 minutes in and what i understood is that, Panditji has spent his entire life studying the theories & knowledge of "Buddhism" which is seen as he is trying to explain all those things using particular terminology, it is hard for him to challenge his strongly held paradigms and discuss all those things leaving aside what he has been studying for almost all his life, because the man has spent his whole life studying & mastering one particular thing, for Panditji it is the ultimate truth, hence he is not able to let go of his beliefs because for him to let go of his beliefs is similar to letting go of the efforts he put in studying all of it throughout his life, and letting go of the efforts directly implies that the time & energy he invested in something was not actually the truth (i.e: waste of life for him) hence he is sticking by his views very solidly trying to defend the value & validity of "his knowledge"

IMHO the comment is a little harsh and not true. I think a lot of what the Pandit guy said, in the beginning, was just articulated differently at a later point in time during the talk by the K guy. It came across to me as a disagreement created because of the choice of words by the speakers in the given context of their languages. I think, in gist, they were trying to convey the same thing.

We can all pretend to understand K a degree better than punditji to boost our ego. But in truth we are not any better off than him. Probably K himself is talking nonsense and we are all agreeing to him like the people in the story of “emperor’s new clothes “! :) Just kidding. that pandit is not a fool at all, infact what he is pointing out is that reality is complete in itself in the moment. Pupil jaikar is asking a very commonplace question. A layman like me cam answer. Space, time, matter are all related to thought, consciousness which is the movement in time. They bind us and the me is manifestation of the three.

JK: Life is movement and non-movement, meaning: There is constant birth of acts and deaths of it, when you have the memory it becomes a container for the act to stay. This very memory is the self. If there is no memory then there is no self, hence there is only movement and non-movement, nothing to hold the act, this is life, this is living. Thus if we have memory, then we have self and so we are not living.

Truly beautiful is it not to finally come to this point by JK. Nature itself has no time only we man live within the bond of time we created and of which we suffer. Birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations can never be celebrated as they cannot simply exist but yet humans fool themselves for sake of ego... I am that

The guy is constantly translating and interpreting what krishnamurti is saying into his preconceptions and knowledge. He cannot see the simple structure of Krishnamurti's sentences. Let alone reality.

Its a very long way of coming to the conclusion of why we are here. Let me simplify it. We are Consciousness - definition - anything that can make a choice between this and that, period. This so called reality, is a virtual reality. There is no time, space, matter, its all information, similar to a computer game. This virtual reality was created to further our Collective Consciousness, a process of evolution. The formula for evolving is Unconditional Love. Unconditional Love is defined as - Total Acceptance, not to be confused with like or dislike, but acceptance of all life. Acceptance assists with the elimination of fear, self-centredness and beliefs, the 3 elements for human suffering, which I have coined as the "Triangle of suffering". In short, we logged into this virtual reality in order to continue the process of our Collective Evolution for our collective survival. Without evolution, we remain stagnant and die, this is evident in any evolutionary system. Therefore, unconditional Love and all its virtuous deeds is the model/formula for our Collective survival and our day to day interactions provide us with the opportunity to practice this. Therefore, with the right intent we work toward becoming loving Beings. This will make our world a kinder, more caring and peaceful world.

Feeling bad for Pandit ji. He is not being given enough chance to express himself. As he starts to say anything, J Krishnamurti interrupts and shifts the discussion to something new. Also, lack of good translator is also causing waste of time. Pandit ji was so damn true. But since he said things in Hindi, wasn't given due recognition.

Pandit is only saying & not understanding it truly. It's theory only. Meaning he doesnt see this in day to day life. That is why JK said forget Buddhism. Exemple he said there is movement & non Movement & when JK give an exemple of the tide he could't see the connection to it. He has only read BUDDHISM AND IS HOLDING BUDDHISM/RECORDING/SELF. JK is simply impying that forget Buddhism and rediscover it yourself. Birth/DEATH again not holding it. Pandit is saying the right things but does't mean he lives by it.

Thought is not a material. Because if we say thoght is material, mind also be material. Mind and matter are not different- all material process. We need matter-sense organs to know outter world. We cannot say thought is matter just beacuse thought depends on matter.
