J.-L. Duport Cello Etude no 7 is one of the Best Cello Etudes. It focuses on playing sweeping 16th note chords , with stopped notes occurring on the downbeat of select measures. Challenges include keeping the bow under complete control and delivering even strokes that contact the strings equally, and quick chord shifts in the left hand.
The Studies for cello (Études pour violoncello) by Jean-Louis Duport (1749-1819), are very important part of cello pedagogical repertoire. Despite being over 200 years old, these etudes are still relevant to cellists today. Duport was a French cellist who, along with his brother Jean-Pierre Duport, revolutionized the performance of the cello. These etudes cover all aspects of cello technique such as developing right hand skills to play legato, staccato, spiccato and detache. Working on them with private cello teacher or with these video tutorials will help you to improve the left hand intonation accuracy, get confidence in making shifts and learning to play double stops.

Specially thanks for your slow-motion this piece. Without this slow-motion, maybe I give up this difficult piece, your fingers movement is very important for reference in slow-movement. Thank very much!

I am about to start learning this beautiful piece, thank you for this beautiful video!! :-) The slow tempo is really cool, it is so much cooler than to artificially slow the video speed (no sound deformation)

Very Nice. Played this for my audition Etude piece to get into Curtis when I was 17. I guess Maestro Serkin and Soyer liked it. They let me in. Lol. Great Job.

Thank you for all of these videos, you've been so helpful and have saved my sanity with the slow tempo examples with every video I've watched and used to aid my practise. If ever you find the time to make a video for J-P Duport's Etude 8 (Adagio cantabile) I, for one would certainly make good use of it. 🤞

I think the most important thing for this etude is knowing wich voice has the melody In this video you play mostly just sitting on bass but in 50% of etude you probably should try to hide it since melody is going in middle or upper voice Sorry for bad english, hope its not to much criticism Wish you all the best, love your content

I've been studying the piece for some months and it is very difficult to me try to speed up the tempo, I am fine with quarter note 60 even 65, but i would like to know if there's any tip to move from 65 to 80, what are the bow decisions you made to allow you play the complete study in a regular but fast way. Thanks,

I hope you’ve progressed, maybe someone else will find this helpful: my teacher has me practice only the bow movements on open string with a metronome, since I didn’t have a problem with the fingering
