Never seen Maruyama so much on defensive before. Whoever says Basile lacked spirit is incapable to understand judo, and not seeing literally dozen of attacks prepared, evaded, aborted, visible only from position of shoulders and feet. Maruyama showed a lot of respect, was very tactical, and won out of the pure class he has, exploiting a mere glitch. Side note, evading Maruyama's uchimata equals more or less outboxing Steve Rogers.

Secondo me più che perdere qualcosa ha cominciato ad incontrare gente di livello sicuramente non presente a Rio 2016. A Tokyo 2020 incontrò alle olimpiadi al primo turno An Changrim secondo solo a Shohei Ono... Eliminato subito, ora Maruyama e se va alle olimpiadi rischia di incontrare Hifumi Abe... Il livello tecnico ora è molto ma molto più alto del suo.

Ma va. Combattere con Maruyama sullo stesso livello è un risultato enorme. Ha perso per una microscopica distrazione. I giapponesi hanno una immediata transizione verso il ne waza, non te lo puoi dimenticare. Fino a quel momento, Basile era in vantaggio, è uscito vivo da una unchimata tremenda, nessuno poteva fare di più, senza vincere contro una leggenda vivente. Squalificare questo incontro di Basile significa non sapere chi è Maruyama. Vale tranquillamente una finale.
