This is my new theme song. I am writing my second novel. My first will be published by Crooked Lane Books, a Penguin Random House imprint. Book one's themes include sisterhood and secrets and stories being hidden. But my second psychological thriller/Gothic novel confronts the patriarchy, and centers around women being erased from history (LITERALLY. I feel even Cleopatra fits perfectly with this song. The romans potrayed her as a seductress to dimiss her economical, political, and military achievements. Because how the romans wrote Clepatra in the history she is often depicted in media as a seductress more than a wise ruler.

You know, this reminds me of Dido, the queen of Carthage. She was an amazing leader. After the fall of Troy, Aeneas came and fell in love with her. She became a shadow of herself and according to the epic poem, just became obsessed with Aeneas to the point she killed herself. That's pretty much all that happens in the Aeneid. But she was so much more than that. She founded Carthage (in modern day Tunisia), and her true strength and history are still important to that area. I took an epic poetry class, and she was the one figure that really stayed with me. Poets did her a great disservice.
