As a classical pianist at a conservatory, but also as a gigging blues musician, this is really special to see. Always nice to see people getting back to what they love! It can be incredibly beneficial to just improvise over a 1/4/5 progression, not only to improve one's classical skills, but also for their soul! Boogie Woogie and Blues is some of the most pure music out there, it just makes you want to dance!

I am now 70 and vividly remember my dear old mum playing boogie on our piano, the house was ful of music but we moved house and my father sold the only piano in the village ours, still when i hear boogie i think of those happier days than now under lockdown.

Lény the piano isn’t bright enough and it’s adapted heavily to create impressive tonal and timbre colors. It sounds very smooth and round if that makes sense. Definitely amazing for classical, but not bright and pingy enough for rag time/blues

If they had "gotten into it", it actually would have been more of a distraction, from a production standpoint. This way, the pianist is showcased, fully, not only as the the only one playing, but the only one moving. This naturally draws the audience's attention where it belongs.

Glaub mir: Die Musikstudenten der klassischen Musik feiern so hart wie kaum eine andere Studentengruppe - auf jeden Fall härter als ich. Und es gibt kaum jemanden, der so sehr seinen Traum lebt, wie klassische Musiker. Immerhin gehört da tägliches stundenlanges Üben vom Kindesalter an dazu - für jeden, der in diesem Orchester sitzt. Man muss klassische Musik ja nicht mögen, aber Sesselfurzer finde ich ein wenig respektlos.

Happened upon this video after browsing few viral videos of street piano performances. While those were great and entertaining (and much more popular) this one was like watching Michael Jordan or Messi compared to kids playing in the streets :)
