As a classical pianist at a conservatory, but also as a gigging blues musician, this is really special to see. Always nice to see people getting back to what they love! It can be incredibly beneficial to just improvise over a 1/4/5 progression, not only to improve one's classical skills, but also for their soul! Boogie Woogie and Blues is some of the most pure music out there, it just makes you want to dance!

Anybody screaming "CULTURAL APPROPRIATION!" here? Jorg can appropriate anytime. He makes this into the dangerously happy music it should be. As I once read on a Chinese site, cultural appreciation is different from cultural appropriation. Jorg flatters America and takes what he found and improves upon it. I am grateful. Can anyone imagine being in a worse mood when they are done listening to this than they were when they began? I cannot.
@AA-zq1sx2 ай бұрын
You suffer from not understanding what words actually mean. "Appropriation" is to steal something from another culture, without giving credit, without understanding it's true significance, and pretending it you can take it as easily as putting on a Halloween costume. "Appreciation" is enjoying and sharing the work of another culture with the proper respect. He is not pretending his own ancestors invented this music... and he studied for years to master it. That's APPRECIATION - and it's beautiful to be appreciated.

The classical music students I know do party more and harder than I could… Do not jump to conclusions about the people from just looking at them doing their job. He was really nervous about it but a great piano player and loved boogie woogie, stride et al. Told him if he started to loose it during the recital to go off script and play something to settle his nerves as it were. Apparently he finished one piece from the program and took a little diversion then back to the plan. Still aced the performance from what I can recall. Boogie Woogie, cures what ails you.
