I've built a few HRM amp clones for people over the years, and all of them were for people who'd never actually played any D-style amps prior to getting them. I always would get in touch with them a week or so after they had them to see how everything was working out. Literally every one of them basically said the same thing: "yeah I liked it, but…I don't know, I guess I expected to like it more than I do." Id always reach out again a few months later, and the response this time was "I f'cking love it, I haven't played anything else…I don't want to play anything else, etc." It was somewhere between the second and third time this happened when I realized what was going on. In spite of whether they had been playing high gain or clean amps prior, they had been playing amps that had more compression and were FAR more forgiving than these are. The amps can be hard to reign in if you're not used to playing really touch sensitive and dynamic amps. These are almost like playing another instrument all together. Even the traditional skyline tone stack is more forgiving than these, especially if you're using a Strat or anything with single coils and it's even more so. The ones after I was able to warn them what was going to happen, and suggested getting compressors is they don't already have one if they think it'll be an issue. The upside is that once you have a handle on your playing, they'll do whatever you need them to.

Great way to demo , Tele, LP type guitar, and Strat, really puts across how the pedal reacts to different guitars. Tastefully wicked playing doesn't hurt either.

This is actually one of the nicest designs J.Rockett has done for a pedal so far.

Tasty kicks expertly delivered. Killer tone. Just bought the pedal!

I have one and it's an outstanding drive pedal. Hands down one of the best things J Rockett have ever done IMO. I have a Kingsley Peasant in front of mine. Plug a strat in and you need very little else. Superb.

J. Rocket has a very boutique Nashville tone to their pedals, which is really great when you need it. HRM v2 is punch in the face overdrive.

Definitely got the Rockford files tone. Barney Miller. Early Carlton tone. I understand, pushing the gain but there’s enough pedals, on the market, that do that. Great playing as always.

Way to spank that Monkey. 🙊 Killer pedal and Demo. J.Rockett has really come a long way. Great design format, doesn't eat up unnecessary space on ones board.

Nice review young man! Spectacular playing non stop. Good choice of guitars, thorough tweaking. No nonsense babble .... BTW, the pedal sounds spectacular with Fender single coils, a tough guitar to overdrive well without high gain pups. Again, Nice job. Thanks for posting it!

Is that a midrange cut, because it doesn’t sound like many of the other midrange controls I’m used to hearing in the sweep … and to me that’s a good thing. It’s seems much subtler.

made the tele sound nice and fatter, which to me is more difficult than with humbuckers. I was curious, since I have the V1 and like it.
Hmmmm. I have a Blue Note, Dude, Dude V2, and a HRM (and various other J. Rockett pedals). Absolutely love the Blue Note and Dude. I haven't quite bonded with the HRM. But this sounds killer. Not sure how much of that is the new version and how much is the playing. Great Demo.

What would you say the difference is for you between the Dude V2 and the HRM V2? Feel and cleanup with volume-wise.

@@glencruciani I'm here with the same question.
@stuartkinzel8195 Жыл бұрын
@@glencruciani The HRM V2 sounds very similar to The Dude to my ears. For HRM V1 the EQ sounds different. My HRM is V1 and honestly, I don't like it as much as The Dude. But, I absolutely LOVE The Dude.
@glencruciani Жыл бұрын
@@stuartkinzel8195 are you referring to the V1 or V2 Dude?
@stuartkinzel8195 Жыл бұрын
@@glencruciani I have both. I think the only difference is the taper of the volume. V1 is at unity at about 9 o'clock and V2 is at unity at about 12 o'clock. Other than that they seem the same to me.

You are an amazing player and this demo sounded great but most of us working stiffs don’t have $3000 amps or a ton of money for modeling and all the other things that you ran this through to do this demo, so how does this pedal sound on a $700 app most of us will be plugging it into when we get home without all the fancy plug-ins in modeling
