Of all the sopranos I have heard in the Bach cantatas, she is simply the best for me. By far. It's unbelievable how she manages to sing so purely en accurately, with the most beautiful ornaments. The vibratos are just enough and her timbre is of great beauty. Thank you, Miriam!

I wonder if the organisers of Bach's catalogue (BWV) were aware of the excellent grouping of Cantata's 49, 50, 51, 52, 53 and 54? These works so different but wonderfully express the Christian faith in Bach's music. To me this grouping of works is a sublime example of religious song. This performance of Cantata 52, with the chance to hear the Orchestra alone in the Sinfonia, more than meets the Bachstiftung's usual high standards. The Horns fanfare at the start put a big smile on my face.

In my opinion all 200 spiritual (non secular) cantatas are very good. Out from all very-very good are appr. 130 cantatas and from them 20 cantatas 4, 11, 12, 21, 31, 32, 51, 56, 57, 82, 105, 106, 113, 131, 140, 146,147,169,187,199 are the best from the best. Just my humble opinion.

@@josifspartak6287 I would add BWV 91 because it truly sounds like the herald of Christmas. Bach had it performed for at least 5 Christmases. And BWV 80; that duet is so good.

De hecho, literalmente es la misma pieza, el 1er movimiento del Brandenburgo Nº 1 es anterior de 1721, y J.S. Bach usó esta misma parte como sinfonía introductoria de su Cantata BWV 52 compuesta cinco años después en 1726.
