Baroque sonatas were usually written on two staves. The upper staff for a solo instrument, the lower one for the bass. I have read that they were sometimes performed on the harpsichord because the notation did not differ from the notation for the harpsichord. Why not do the opposite. You can play a harpsichord piece as if it were notes for solo instrument and bass. I wonder if there are any references to it in the sources from the Baroque period.
