You're right, the Gavotte II has to be considered together with Gavotte I. Decided to talk about the first part only as the video risked to be very long. And there must be something left to teach for my paying students. ;-)

How difficult is this piece to play? I am an intermediate classical guitarist and this is the second Bach piece that I would want to tackle. I can play the BWV 996 Bourrée at diverse speeds with good sound and technique if that helps to estimate my readiness. I have deep respect for this piece for some reason and wonder if I should hold of on learning this piece for a while longer.

The Bouree has two voices throughout, which make it quite playable. E-minor is probably the most basic key for guitar, which helps for the Bouree, too. The Gavotte l from 995 is more demanding: it is on a 3voicw basis; the motives in eights with the bass puts some internal movement in the fretted hand. Anyway I believe it's not to far away from it. With the right time to make it grow it should be doable. Let me know how it goes, when you decided to start. ;-)
