Can’t really tell why, but this is by far the best version. The voices go just perfect with each other, especially the Mezzosoprano gives such a strong, longing vibe to it. Absolutely perfect. This version comes back to my mind from time to time, since I heard it for the first time.

About a year after finding this, I still love this, the soprano 1 had a lovely voice but over powers the trio, soprano 2 has a great voice as well, wish it came through more, the alto is magnificent

Probably the best interpretation/recording found on youtube of this heavenly piece. Voices are so clear and sharp, and not masked by the orchestra which, by the way, is also delight to listen to. Watch and listen carefully, and a tear will drop even before the first minute from which onwards the piece reaches a unique sublime level until the end!

This interpretation is really amazing, but there's another one that's a little bit better -- I can't find it anymore (it was probably excluded), I guess Koopman was the maestro, dunno...

Bravo pour ce magnifique "suscepit Israel". J'aime beaucoup le timbre opulent de l'alto Marta Infante, très beau.

This is a top favorite from JS Bach, the master. The alto part is somewhat subdued by the contralto but still evident. This is a great orchestra!

Gorgeous...what a trio! The alto is spectacular, and both sopranos are lovely!! A pity that the orchestra occasionally overpowers them; they could have lightened up a bit. But what a performance of this celestial trio!

For me the pronunciation of the latin text is a little strange " suscepit " but otherwise is a very nice performance! Congratualition!
@kutluakalin51299 жыл бұрын
+Ituna69 it's the mediaeval pronunciation. I think it suits the music very well.
@inesdeerausquin56586 жыл бұрын
It's pronounced as it should be -- with the ecclesiastical, Italianate pronunciation. :)

Sus - she - pit Is-ra-ël That's perfect Latin. The controversy if suskepit or sus-shepit are the right pronunciation is absurd. I teach Latin and I hate saying wini-widi-wiki, when you want to say Vini, vidi, vici. Just think about it.

@@davidstewart9263 my husband also teaches latin in the university, and I speak italian. He and we in Hungary follow genarally the german method of the pronunciation, so like " veni, vidi, vici ": the sus-cé-pit is also with " c " and not with " k" or "s" like in this song - which is very italian 😉
@davidstewart92634 жыл бұрын
@@budapestguidata-norajuhasz6408 The Catholic Church, from where this Magnificat come from, does not accept the so called "vulgar" or academic latin. They use the italianate pronunciation that changes some of the rules. The v becomes V, the T between vowels sounds like -ts, ge-ne-ra-(tsi)-o-nem, po-ten-(tsiam). The c in front of vowels becomes ch, etc. This is the basis of all modern romance languages. The italianization of vulgar latin brought the development of new languages and still, their modern pronunciation derives from that of Italian-Latin.

That annoying oboe completely obliterates soprano 2 in some of the most beautiful parts. Overall beautiful anyway
@davidstewart92634 жыл бұрын
For your records, the oboe part is the true melody of a very ancient Magnificat tone. Bach used it as a "obstinato" base for his delicate counterpoint sung by the three voices. The real melody is the oboe, the rest is just Bach's imagination
