Can you imagine the amount of work that went into building that organ back then. Organ builders must have been really dedicated to their work. Who today would take the time to carve that beautiful facade, glad they were able to restore it as well as the organ.. W Leitzel

What a great choice to play at the Arnstadt organ! The work shows a lot of the solo stops of the organ, with its good number of original pipes. What a treasure!
@grahaml34495 жыл бұрын
@Sebastián Gossio Well, according to Herr Preller, organist there for many years, the rebuild about 1999 had 320 original pipes to work with and some bits of the woodwork. They also had good documentation of the 1703 organ.
@jsc5492 Жыл бұрын
In the 1999 reconstruction of the 1703 instrument, only half the stops have more than 50% of historic pipes. None of the pedal is historic. Most stops contain few or no historical pipes!

I suppose some would say this is......well, lets forget about what imaginations would say. FANTASTIC, and having the time on Bachs organ with his music. Your pedal work is a foreign matter to me, and I was never able to devote the time to learning the technique of it, so, I am continuously amazed at your skill there. I would like to know about how you selected the Stops on the organ for this performance, (?) And hope you are happy, healthy, tell the vision from Jesus, and recall that Bach dedicated EVERY piece he wrote....to Jesus....tall, about 6’3, black hair, olive skin, like a greek olive on a pizza. Maybe you will tell the vision, maybe not. But hearing you play music is a deep joy, and the most depthful one I shall have in my aging years. Thanks. Wes.

Well, only about half of the Oberwerk, significantly less of the Brustwerk, and none of the Pedal pipes from Bach's time have survived. Likewise, the action and key desk are modern reconstructions dating from the restoration by Hoffmann in the late 90s (though the heavily restored original key desk is preserved in the museum nearby). A bit like the famous ship of Theseus ... Edit: According to Wolff (2006), the particular registers that still contain at least 50% historical material are the Gamba 8' (OW), Quintadehna 8' (OW), Grobgedacktes 8' (OW), Gemshorn 8' (OW), Octava 4' (OW), Mixtur IV 2' (OW), Cymbel II 1' (OW), Stillgedacktes 8' (BW), Nachthorn 4' (BW), and Mixtur III 1' (BW).
