This makes me both want to get better at marimba while also simultaneously making me want to weep in a dark hole because of my ineptitude to play that well

My god, that dynamic control is insane, incredible note accuracy aside. Unbelievable performance. I always used to come back to the Doug Perry video, but this seems to be much closer to how it's meant to sound and I'll be coming back to this one for sure. I wish I could still play marimba, been 5 years since playing and this video is making me want to play even more.

Brilliant. Christoph has mastered this instrument to the point where the musician and the instrument become one. The level of skill required is astounding. BRAVO!

You’ve got a new fan - ME. Love this composition, love this performance. You are very exciting to watch and delightful to listen to!! Impressed by the changes in timbre and im not talking about just when you do the col legno or whatever it is called here when you use the stem of the mallets but also the location of where you strike the bar. This really made me aware of possibilities with this instrument I had not really considered before. Makes me want to compose a piece for you.

I like how you substituted a lot of parts that could use outer mallets, and instead used inner mallets. The way it looks when you play really does this piece well.

I'm going to attempt this senior year of high school. Been playing some difficult solos but this... it's going to be tough and also i must make it musical and beautiful. This the perfect recording. You can tell how much the performer is into it. Just watch his face :)
