He is a human roller coaster... consistency is needed to win big games.. The Oiler defense is also pretty mediocre.. the team's fortunes are almost entirely dependent on how effective McDavid and Drisatil are.. not a recipe for winning championships

True....to a point. Then again, some of his "miraculous saves" are a result of him being down early and deep in his net. Sorry, I like his battle level and puck handling, but he plays deep and has to make "big saves" when another goalie has the angle cut and is not flailing aroundf. The undying loyalty to him while they do not even give 26---12---4 Mikko one start?....They would rather start a 40 year old for his 15th straight start? Also Bouchard was hooked on that play but should have done better to defend.

@@joshwall4263 Sure, but starting a 40 year old 15 straight times tin the playoffs after missing much of the year while Koskinen has played well, is fresh, gives the shooters a different target. i do not get the undying loyalty no matter what to Smith. Not even one start for a goalie that was 26--12--4..a goalie that was 12--2 to start the year? Terrible, and now its costing them.

I don’t mind it not being called if it’s away from the play, but the play was coming right to him and he was unable to defend or poke at the puck. Goalie should have made the stop. Misplayed it and resulted in a goal. Bad luck either way.

Everyone blaming Mike Smith after he carried the team this game with good save after save after save and then left a “soft” goal which was quite a quick release for a muffin you say. And the other two goals that were let in where legit a deflection by nurse and a screened shot which I swear went off Bouchard and into the left of the net

@@algrundau9441 I’m definitely not saying that he should start in net next game but everyone is blaming him for the past two games where he’s gotten deflection after deflection after deflection both games like 4/7 goals (empty net doesn’t count) in the past two games were deflections, and another he legit didn’t have his glove on. So now we’re at 5/7 goals in the past two games. I’m just saying he’s getting wayyy too much hate for the way he’s been playing but yeah idk why they didn’t put in Koskinen this game.

That play was the difference for sure. Post at one end and goal at other. Not just in the game, but the series could have been 2 to 1 instead of 3 to 0. Costly play for the Oilers for sure.

To be honest, they're also not winning a cup with Koskinen in net either. Oilers screwed themselves when they decided to give Nurse that $9,250,000 contract. McDavid, Draisaitl and Nurse make up 36.7% of the Oilers salary cap, not leaving too much left for a good goalie and the rest of the roster.

Why didn't Bouchard let the Avs guy take the puck and then angle him off into the corner? You would learn that in Bantam, wouldn't you? Smith has to be blamed a little bit as well, but dumb play by Bouchard. Maybe next year they'll bring some meanness and toughness onto the blue line, in the form of Niemalienen and smarts and speed in the form of Broberg, not to mention Skinner in net.

As a Flames fan, thought this would be slugfest against 2 hi end cup contending teams...until Flames goaltending took last round off. For Av fans, dont sleep on McJesus (skates on water) attempting to do it on his own & the most opportunistic team (Oilers) looking to keep getting outplayed but be within a shot from a few fortunate bounces & hi end rope-a-dope technique. Finish them in 4, dont let this horseshoe team linger any longer & on to cup final to watch 2 real contenders.

That’s what I thought too. Again the NHL is really just a joke league. It’s to bad this has not really turned into a series. Sweeps are boring. The Oilers can’t seem to match Colorado’s speed, not getting the bounces, inability to play defence and dried up offence. It is clean the Avalanche are the better team.

What do u want from mcdavid/draitl. They have tried. Smithy was not bad but ur defence are so poor, nurse, Bouchard n coming back, they are not as fast. Oilers won’t be able to win 4 games. Nurse and Bouchard made so many mistakes and their hockey iq poor as well. Oilers made huge mistake signing Nurse to so many years.

I'm not a fan of either one of these teams but from a neutral stand point, I honestly saw a lot of ref favoritism for the Oilers during these playoffs. Almost every game I watched, anyone who so much as touched McDavid or Draisaitl was given a penalty....especially if the Oilers were down in the game.
