You are sort of correct. But I used to interpret this as the whole Spinner's end is by the river. So Lily is implying the landmark of road, not particularly the house. Also, in 6th book, it is made clear that it is the last house in the lane; in the 1st chapter.

Wow, J is phenomenally good at these tests. I mean I consider myself a somewhat expert on everything Harry Potter and still get a lot of answers wrong on these tests. But then again I did it the way they did, without multiple choice, I'm sure I would've gotten more if not all of them right had I opted for the multiple choice answers. But both J and Ben are very good at doing these Harry Potter quizzes and really know their Harry Potter details and J is phenomenally good, like ridiculously good at doing these but good job both of you. You guys did great on this one, especially for not having the multiple choice answers and instead doing it from memory.

@ellie.b.e.3 жыл бұрын
I know it likely has to do with textile factories and British industry in the muggle world, but I’ve also wondered whether in true Rowling fashion it’s because this is where the complicated WEB of events that shaped Harry’s life, from Snape’s infatuation to Petunia’s envy and disregard, began.
@sunilpermaul78766 жыл бұрын
I always hated how they said Harry was "cheating". I mean if you get a used textbook that has the important parts highlighted, then that's just a slight benefit. Harry had one that somebody wrote notes and better things in. Harry got lucky, but it wasn't cheating. Hermione was honestly just jealous.
@7gamex5 жыл бұрын
Uh no. Considering the extra stuff in the book Harry had was making him better at potions than he really was, that is flat out cheating. Highlighting important parts is one thing, because it's still the same stuff in the book, but adding in new stuff? That's not the same.

It’s what we call foreshadowing
@natalieh19504 жыл бұрын
@@Jeeves_0 it could be that or maybe JK Rowling was wanting us to be mentally conditioned for the ending, including the talking turban bit. I'm going to be honest, when I read it I kind of ignored it, but when I read it I began to think of the dream....like my lit teacher said, if you pay close attention to the foreshadowing then you can tell the ending
@xMRxZEROx4 жыл бұрын
@@natalieh1950 Exactly. It was merely a cool bit of foreshadowing by JK to make Harry dream about Quirrell's turban talking. And it also foreshadowed Harry's connection to Voldemort. Which just goes to prove how much of the story she really did have planned out even from the beginning. I hate it when people try to claim she didn't really have it all mapped out ahead of time. Because you can tell by several things she wrote in the first couple books that she clearly had a well thought out plan in place. Granted, there are a few things early on that never came to fruition or were explored more. But for the most part, she knew what she was doing. I just wish she'd stop mucking things up now after the fact. 😒

Even though she doesn't think she has any real gift she still sells herself as someone who can read/see the future. That's being a fraud. She pretends to be someone she isn't. It's kind of like if you have a bad person constantly doing bad things, but then independently of their will one of their actions leads to something good happening. That doesn't make them a good person nor does that cancel the fact they're bad. It's just a good coincidence.

Question 11: isnt snape great at occlumency, and not legilimency? I thought you-know-who was the one gifted at legilimency
@cripplious6 жыл бұрын
Sona Sood legilimency is seeing in peoples minds and controlling them; while occlumency is protection from mind reading and control
@soodsona6 жыл бұрын
Robert Mills Yeah you’re right about that. That’s exactly why I thought Snape was better at protecting his thoughts cause he had to do that from You-know-who for several years. But I now seem to recall Dumbledore or Lupin or someone telling Harry that Snape was a very accomplished legilimens. Weird...
@nbriggs1336 жыл бұрын
Technically snape is a very skilled occlumens, its one of the top reasons he can be successful as a spy since there's no way voldemort wouldn't regularly search through the mind of a double agent like snape if he could. The skill we actually see in practice though is his legilimency.
@regitzexenia6 жыл бұрын
Since he teaches Harry Occlumency, it makes waaaay more sense that this is what he would he good at. On top of that Voldemort is known to be good at breaking into people's minds, so that's another strong suggestion that Occlumency would be Snape's strength. We see him use Legilimency on Harry yes, but in order to teach him Occlumency. I'd say this is a mistake in the quiz and if not, it's a very muddy question.

@annakilifa3314 жыл бұрын
Snape did ask that but I don't think Harry would have remembered it. He uses it 5 years later and it wasn't the most memorable piece if information to him back then. He does remember it being written in the HBP's potions book.
@xMRxZEROx4 жыл бұрын
@@annakilifa331 Exactly. When Snape mentions bezoars in the first book he simply asks "where would I find a bezoar" when he was bombarding him with questions to embarrass him. As though Harry came into the room being all cocky about his fame. He remembers it becuase of the poisons class in HBP earlier where Snape had made a note in his book "just shove a bezoar down their throats" and he used one to impress Slughorn becuase he knew he couldn't make an actual antidote.

Wormwood does not mean grief in any sense. It's a plant used to kill intestinal worms. Read as deep into that as you want but it definitely has nothing to do with grief.

I'd say, in addition to all the reasons they listed, Snape set Dementors as a subject to get that essential knowledge into these kids' hands in anticipation of Dumbledore dying and Voldy rising in power. Also! Ron learns in detention cleaning the bedpans that Lupin wasn't in there when he was "sick" during that full moon. He really learns a lot in detention, a very diligent young man.

But then in the HBP's potions book, when they're trying to brew an antidote to poisons, he sees scribbled in the margin "just shove a bezoar down their throats", so he grabs one and Slughorn thinks it's great...that's what these two are referring to
