In an interview, the Memphis Grizzly star Ja Morant revealed he wished he would have played in the era in Michael Jordan, as he would have loved a chance to take on the NBA legend one-on-one. He goes on to tell the interviewer that he would have 'cooked' MJ, and while Chris Broussard is a fan of Ja, he breaks down why he's not buying that the young star would have beat Jordan in his prime. Watch as he explains to Nick why Ja would be the one getting 'cooked' in this one-on-one scenario.

I remember hearing about some kid named “Mike” Jordan out of North Carolina with astonishing leaping ability. Initial thoughts on MJ was he was a great athlete but had an unclear path to the NBA because he wasn’t a shooter or passer like Magic and Bird. Not long after there was the famous report from the great Bobby Knight that MJ was the best basketball player he’d ever seen. His vertical of 48 inches was well known back then and doubted by many even though fellow team mates said his vert was actually closer to 50 inches. It wasn’t until the dunk contest and MJ’s iconic spread eagle dunk that people believed the guy could fly hence “air Jordan”. Air had a double meaning back then for Nike Air and Air as in Mike could fly.

Jordan's 59 years old and I'm fairly certain he'd STILL absolutely SMOKE Ja if they played 1 on 1 tomorrow.

The myth that Jordan had a 48 inch vertical is crazy. Y'all will never let these Jordan fairytale stories go anywhere.😂😂😂

both wrong, his only official measurements are in a scan of a UNC stat sheet where he tested at UNC. Which year and the exact number i can't recall as i didn't save the pdf, but i'm almost certain it was 46.5" max vert and i suppose people assume he increased that with the early Bulls years.
