On the Ja Morant thing: Just saw on the Pat McAfee show the other day a story of Anthony Richardson, brand new rookie QB draftee, that stayed after some NFL event and cleaned up the mess that was left by the other draftees. He's 20. “Specifically, at the dinner attended by all potential draftees, the room was left a mess. Everyone was leaving and Troy Vincent saw one person who stayed behind and was bussing tables before the staff came back in the room. Vincent walked up and approached him and said, ‘You don’t need to do this.’ To which Anthony Richardson responded, ‘We left this room in an unacceptable condition, and it’s not right for us to expect the staff to clean it all up.” “Vincent said that (he told Richardson) he was free to go, to which Richardson responded, ‘No it’s alright, I’d like to stay and help,’ and he did, until the room was cleaned up entirely. And he was the last person working along with workers on the shift.” Maturity isn't an age, it's a mentality.

Idk why we defend people doing dumb shit who doesn't even need our defense nor attention. Like why regular people are being held to some standards and are accountable for our actions but if an athlete does this shit we are like "oh stop it. He is not that bad. He doesn't deserve such a penalty." Man if I flashed a gun at my workplace or in attire with company's branding I would be in jail in 60minutes. Being an NBA player is work 24/7 because you are not payed for game time but for all your presence and actions

I occasionally smoke cigarettes, regularly smoke blunts, and I vape here and there, But I'm a 23 year old with bills, responsibilities, and a blue collar job, if I want to smoke im gonna smoke and nobody can tell me otherwise unless they're paying my bills or handling my responsibilities

Ja did it again because he wasn’t actually punished the first time. This is literally how I have to parent my CHILDREN. If there are no real consequences why wouldn’t they do it again? Ja is just a child. And not as in “he’s a young man”. Rather his mental faculties are feeble and he appears to be mentally 17 years old. I watch the nba with my kids and he now has responsibilities. He chose that. It’s time for him to grow tf up. And I love watching ja play basketball. It’s just pathetic he chooses to be a loser when he’s been gifted with every ability to succeed.

We should all be holding each other accountable. Ja won’t hold himself accountable. Someone should. Using someone's age as an excuse for reckless, dangerous behavior is such a cop out. And it makes it harder for young people to be taken seriously. At 23 I was married and had my oldest. Not saying that's what everyone should do. But for me stories and excuses like this made people not want to legitimize my marriage and they saw my daughter as someone who was probably grow up in a broken home. The idea that someone's age somehow limits their ability to grow and mature when their environment calls for it is ludicrous. And as a Puerto Rican man myself, it's the same excuse I've seen so many men in my family and my community use to escape accountability. Which ultimately makes the consequences they suffer that much worse
