70 के दशक की शुरुआत होते-होते मायानगरी में राजेश खन्ना का रुतबा कम होने लगा था। उनकी एक के बाद एक फिल्में पिट रही थीं, तो दूसरी तरफ अमिताभ बच्चन का कद बड़ा हो रहा था। अमिताभ को लेकर और भी कई ऐसी बातें थी जो डायरेक्टर-प्रोड्यूसर्स को पसंद आती थीं। मसलन अमिताभ टाइम के बिल्कुल पंक्चुअल थे। शूटिंग के कॉल टाइम से 2 मिनट पहले ही सेट पर पहुंच जाते थे। विनम्र थे और सुपरस्टार जैसे नखरे नहीं थे। दूसरी तरफ राजेश खन्ना शूटिंग पर देरी से आने के लिए बदनाम थे। यहां तक कि वे कई बार अचानक शूटिंग रद्द कर देते।
