Just like the song Jimmy Iovine. "Rather be a starving artist than succeed at getting fucked." - Macklemore That's the truth.

This was beyond inspiring! Most definitely made me appreciate Macklemore's artistry on a wider scale. It's amazing to see someone work so hard and get so far as indie artist when the odds are stacked against you in this business. As a writer this was a great reinforcement that the road may be long but with a constant dedication and commitment to your craft you will begin to grow. Staying true to what you believe will take you such a long way. Favorited this video so anytime I'm feeling like my hard work is going unnoticed I'll have this as a reference. You did an excellent job Jabari.

tennismediadynamics I love that with the lyrics and the way he sings it you can feel that he has either experienced or really really cares about what he sings about. Like for an example in otherside. The way he's able to express and explain what it's like and really make you see what it was like for him is truly amazing. And even after all he's been through he's still able to almost always have a smile on his face. The most awesome thing about him is that if he wanted to he could sign up with the biggest labels around yet he still commits to doing it his way. He's so real and true and makes songs about exactly what he wants. And he's not scared to take chances like he did with same love,

As an aspiring journalist watching doc's like this are what gives me the inspiration to persue my dreams, no matter haw many times I hear that it's a dying industry. Jabari, you did a fantastic job in both coverage and delivering a huge impact emotionally. As someone who was a little skeptical of Macklemore at first, this has helped me see that he is one of the most genuine artists out there these days. Absolutely brilliant job. Keep it up.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are both very well spoken people. They came to my hip hop class last year and spoke about the meaning and art behind it all, it was amazing. When you listen to them talk, you can hear their passion in what they do. Also, I'm so glad their putting Seattle on the map!

I am a 51 year old classic rock music fan. Macklemore is the only rapper I listen to. His music has become so inspirational since he went to rehab. He doesn't tell it like it is but like it should be! Thrift Shop (I also shop at thrift stores) and Same Love are my favorite songs but I haven't heard any of his stuff I haven't liked. Kids should be encouraged to listen and to tell their friends to listen to his music. I would love to meet him and let him know how much I respect him. Peace Out!

Sabari,I really gotta thank you for doing this. Macklemore and Ryan are the best duo in music Ive seen in a long time, and I really had absolutely no clue how much work has gone into making their dreams come true. It also gives a more realistic look into the hours musicians, especially starting musicians, put into getting their material noticed and out there. I think more people need to see this. Thank you.

I'm glad Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are independent doing everything themselves. Putting real hard work into what you do like that and not hiring other people to take care of everything for them makes this music that much better and it reflects in his writing.

One of the things that drew my eye to these guys was the fact they released their stuff independently. They weren't the "lucky few" that were found by a record label; they made success happen with their own sweat and tears. My goal is to become a working artist one day, and while animation is a different breed of art than music, watching them still inspires me. If they can be this successful on their own. I sure as hell can find a way to make money off my art.
