Look up 'Line 2 Line' abradable coatings. If the piston is mechanically sound this type of coating works wonders.

please post what the actual fix would be. I own a 3300 version 1

Thicker oil is the only thing that will fix it. But even that might not work if the clearance is extreme.

@@FrailRider don’t try acting smart buddy I rebuild engines for fun 😂 the only thing that will fix this is serious machine work and a total engine rebuild or a thicker weight oil.
@FrailRider7 ай бұрын
@@averagecarguy420, cool story. Rebuild yes, heavier oil, no. Stick to cars, at least when the the engine fails you can get out amd walk.

Did you get the offset on the correct side?

Good question.

If permissible, would going to a heavier weight oil help reduce the piston slap severity?
@empireOfLove27 ай бұрын
heavier weight oil doesn't fix the piston to wall clearances. the oil film ends up roughly the same thickness under pressure regardless of weight- all it's gonna do is just make cold starts that much harder

I know that the problem is… ain’t got no gas! (JK) Goes to show, a good engineer can’t fix a bad design once it’s built
@zaks99197 ай бұрын
A certain car maker has the same problem, except they have an aluminum block & plated cylinder walls .This resulted in the rings scraping the plating off & contaminating the oil. The way I stopped this was to add 5 ounces of %100 synthetic 2 stroke oil to ten imperial gallons of gas . Engine is quieter even when cold & performance feels like 10 more hp ! So coated pistons could be another choice, especially if the oil method proves again this is happening.

I thought that at first too, but the piston continued to slap as the spark plug was removed. Replay the video to observe the noise continuing as the spark plug is unthreaded.

@fredblake6135 Oh, so it was a slapping pistons and the rings were no good. Okay.
@averagecarguy4207 ай бұрын
@@richardbrowne3641not due to bad rings. It’s due to piston to wall clearance.
