I’ve been using this headset for work from home since last year. 10 hr shifts as a dispatcher makes comfort very important. The Jabra is very comfortable in my opinion. I forget I’m wearing them sometimes. My experience has been very good with no major issues. They connect to my dell desktop and Apple iPad simultaneously. The Jabra plays audio through both devices seamlessly. The Bluetooth connection allows me to walk around my house & even go outside to my garage without issues. I can take a call from my backyard if I needed to. There are software updates about every 4 months that improve functionality. I’m happy with my purchase. I’ve the Teams certified model . Nothing but smooth sailing after the product learning curve. 👍🏾

the "microphone" scores should be a little bit more separated, for audio quality and noise cancellation quality. also would like to see more detailed ratings on pc/mobile device switching, as well as hi-fi / conference app versatility - and don't forget codec support.

@HeadsetAdvisor Жыл бұрын

Thanks for the review. Very interesting channel on YT. I've been watching for your reviews for some time and noticed the sound has distortion issues here and there. For instance, listen to the start of the Durability section. This is definitely to be improved, especially given the content specifics.

Hi Vitaliy, thanks for the feedback. The audio issue we’re aware of fortunately, so that’s a work in progress that will be fixed soon. If there’s anything else you notice we’d be grateful to hear.

Hi Drew. How good is the sidetone on these? I’m looking for a new headset to buy, you recommended the yealink bh70 to me, and that one is definitely on my list. Though, I definitely like this over the ear jabra better. I know these are more expensive, but that’s ok. The only thing I’d like to know is how good the sidetone is. I like side tones with good volume. I like to be able to hear myself clearly so that I know I’m not speaking too loud.
@HeadsetAdvisorАй бұрын
The Evolve2 85 doesn't have a traditional sidetone unfortunately. It only opens up the hearthrough mode to hear your voice more clearly. So you can't have ANC and sidetone on at the same time which is a bummer.

I will say one note about this unit: The mic confirms it is a Jabra. Having worked with call-centres for over a decade and having had the chance to "sample" all manner of low-end-to-high-end call-centre to executive headsets, each and every brand has a distinctive sound from the mic. Jabra is distinct in that it it always has a teeny amount of "furriness" to their mic. You almost get the sense that the mic audio doesn't *quite* have the bandwidth. It takes a keen ear to pick it up, but unless you have my Vulcan-like-audiophile ears, you shouldn't notice it. What Drew should add to these reviews is whether they are considered professional-grade, consumer-grade, corporate-grade or enthusiast-grade devices. This goes a long way in telling the viewer in what market-space these exist as well as how support and service will be handled. corporate- and professional-grade equipment like this will enjoy a vastly higher level of support and service compared to the other markets. Often this can sway a buyer to choose something that is certainly outside their price-class for the given result, but delivers longevity, reliability and support. This leads me to my next criticism to Drew: Why don't you add a support, spares and service chapter to these devices? This is becoming a thing now with right-to-repair, and the more someone knows about spares and replacement parts may sway the buyer even further on choosing a particular product. If I was buying 3000 of these units, wouldn't I like to know that? Just a thought. But good review overall!

Something weird that I discovered with these recently: when I initiate a call on my cell phone, the mic noise suppression is superb vs. when I answer an incoming call on my phone. I have the UC version and have overall been happy with them. Mostly use for coffee shop working, and airplane rides bc my Evolve 75e don’t have great noise cancellation, but better noise suppression.

Can the headset be used whilst charging with the USB cable and which connection mode(s) would it allow? Eg USB power and audio from the laptop or USB power from the laptop, but audio is still wireless?

Hey Drew! SOS for some help please. I work from home. I share an office with my spouse. We work for the same company so are sometimes on the same TEAMS meetings. My headset needs are pretty simple, I need OVER Ear headphones for all day comfort, NC headphones to block the Wife's speaking and NC mic to make my calls more private if we are both on the phone at the same time. I have used the Voyager 2 but they broke after a few months and can only be used corded now, and currently use the Logitech Zone 900 but they hurt my ears after a few hours. Can you make a recommendation please?

@@waynepotgieter41 howdy! The Jabra Evolve2 85 and Orosound Tilde Pro (being replaced by Orosound Tilde Evo) are a couple of the best over ear choices as of today.

Hey I’ve got this headset. Must admit it picks up way too much background noise and this disrupts the microphone’s noise cancelling technology. I’ve purchased an EPOS Impact. I hope the noise cancelling in the headset speakers is as good as Jabra’s. The noise cancelling of the jabra speakers is very good but the side tone features don’t work and the busy light has never worked when I get a call at work. Supposedly you need to install plugins for the soft phone but even despite all this it’s the lack of background noise reduction that puts me off the device.
@HeadsetAdvisor8 ай бұрын
Definitely, the Evolve2 85 is overall a good headset but does lack in microphone noise cancellation and doesn't offer true sidetone. The Impact should be better for what you want, or another to consider is the Orosound Tilde Pro.

Hi Drew, can you please give a review of this headset as of now. It has been a year and there may have been some firmware update on this headset. I have been waiting for Evolve3 series but I think it's not coming anytime soon. I'm actually worried about the Mic on Evolve2 85, I have heard so many complains about it as the its Mic produces so much Robotic sound and performs poor many times in blocking the background noise. I want to know if the firmware update has made some improvement in this.

Why is this mic sounding worse than the cheaper evolve2 75?
@HeadsetAdvisor2 жыл бұрын
We don't know the answer to this for certain, but the Evolve2 75 is newer than the Evolve2 85 so it seems they figured a way to further improve the mic on the 75.

I watched your video where you compared this headset to the Bose 700. In that video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/maKVqYdubr9qrsk) the boom mic on the Jabra sounded much better than the Bose built in microphones, but the Bose did a better job by quite a long shot in reducing the level of the office noise track that you played. It seems that you now use the mixer but not the office noise track anymore. While I recognize that the mixer is a unique thing to use, is not as representative of a noise source as the office noise track. So I am still left wondering how come the Jabra doesn't do a better job of noise cancellation. I have watched a lot of your videos, and many of the products you test do a very good job canceling out noise. I guess I will have to go back and re-watch all your videos using full-sized headphones that cover the ears. Thanks as usual for the review.
