I have owned the Evolve2 65 for about 3 weeks now. Been using it for conference calls at work, and I did three job interviews with it as well. All parties reported excellent mic clarity. Also I love the dual connectivity feature where when an incoming phone call occurs, my video/music is paused on my PC and i simply lower my microphone arm to answer the call on my cell. When the call is over, everything seamlessly transtitions over to my PC! I recommend installing the two software patches (for the USB Link 380 adapter, and for the headset itself). A few days ago, in addition to Teams, Zoom, Skype support, Amazon Chime was also added to the list. Overall a fantastic piece of tech from Jabra.

Thanks for the review and mic test! I just sold my Evolve (which I loved) to upgrade to the Evolve2. Just got it today and thought I'd leave a few comments that others may find helpful. First, noise blocking. The Evolve didn't block outside noise super well. The Evolve2's "passive noise cancelling" (read: fancy padding) actually blocks noise surprisingly well though. IMO active noise cancelling isn't really necessary except in a REALLY loud environment. Big win for the Evolve2. But one oddity that I haven't seen addressed anywhere is the mic boom on the Evolve2. It's positively awful. It stays so close to my head that I had to adjust the way I wear it just to get the mic to clear my glasses. Even then it's like almost right up against my cheeks. So I had to adjust the headset to "flatten" my ears closer to my head otherwise it's not that usable. Really bizarre design choice compared to the original Evolve. Other than that, 10/10 work headset. For music, the sound quality is surprisingly good (once you use a bass reducing equalizer preset... the bass is awfully overdone, just like every other non-audiophile set of cans).

Thanks for a great comparison. I've bought the Jabra Evolve2 65 and it is my mistake. If I paid attention, when you are using the Jabra 65, you cannot hear the TV at 50, but you can hear it when you are using the Jabra Evolve2 65. What a step backwards for Jabra. I would NOT recommend getting the Jabra Evolve2 65 if your primary reason is microphone noise cancellation.

Just what I was thinking during the demo. I personally use the Evolve 65 and the mic phone noise cancellation on the Evolve2 65 is what's holding me back to upgrade.

I have both of the 65's, and sadly one feature that is lacking in the new Evolve 2 is the universal boom arm swivel. In the original 65, the boom mic arm could swivel both ways. For my use case, I have the boom mic on the left side since it was closest to the USB port for my desk setup and felt more natural for me as a left-handed. The new evolve 2 you are forced to have the boom mic on only the right side only.

One of the things I didn't like on the original 65 (dual) is the fact that the audio volume is low for music/video. In an airplane, for example, when I'm traveling with it, the volume to watch a movie sometimes isn't enough, maybe because it doesn't isolate well and the size of speakers is small. The only reviews I follow for business headsets, thanks!. So the evolve2 65 cannot be used in “wired” mode? That’s a deal breaker for me, since having that option is fundamental in my opinion at this price range and for business use cases. Do you know if Jabra plans to change that via firmware upgrade or if any of the Evolve2 wireless line-up has a “wired” mode? Or any other business wireless headset you could recommend that also has “wired” mode :-)?

One minor follow up question if I might, upon reading Jabra release notes for the firmware version 2.4.5 (thanks to your video!), Jabra states “New feature: Support for USB audio.”, could you clarify if “USB audio” means the headset’s mic also works through the USB connection? (i.e. the headset is fully functional via USB) Thanks for your effort on putting this content out , this really helps especially now on this unprecedented times where our virtual presence is key and having the right tools (like a good pair of headsets) is fundamental. Please do a Comparison between the Elite 85h and the Evolve 2 85. I know most people will want to see a comparison with the Evolve 75 however that model is discontinued with the Evolve 3l2 85s taking almost all design cues of the Elite 85h (just added a boom mic) and buying an Elite 85h and a 370 dongle is still $200 cheaper than the Evolve 2 85. It might not have a boom mic but the call Quality on the Elite 85 is still awesome. Hi SomeUser421, thank you for watching and your question. I wrote a blog that defines the difference between ANC and NC when it comes to headsets a couple years back but is still true today: www.calloneinc.com/whats-the-difference-between-anc-and-nc/ To answer your question, no, the dongle does not impact a ANC on these particular models because they do not have Active Noise Canceling Speakers. The new Evolve2 65 has what is called Passive Noise Canceling speakers which uses the material and shape to passively block the background noise you hear through the speakers. In terms of the NC or noise canceling mic, I'm the technology is built into the mic so the dongle should not impact the performance. One of the other tests I perform off camera is pairing the headsets with the different dongles to see if they work or not. Primary difference with newer dongles is the Bluetooth version. I hope this helps.
