Thanks. Yes you can slather the impeller with grease. Most people do. Isn’t detrimental to the impeller or the other components.

Nice video! Thanks. From what I learned, the small o-ring is to sling away any water that accidentally passes the lipseal, to prevent it from entering the engine.

that pump is nearly the same as a Johnson F6B-9 the only thing different is the johnson does not have the snap ring, and instead of the O-Ring cover seal they use a gasket. Other than that they are the same.

This helped me, but how do we know if lip seal is too far in? Should it sit on top surface of brass housing?

Do you know the dimensions of the Seal ring ? I am in Asia.. and I have ordere3d a few seal rings with stainless steel spring ring but they leak when I install them.. There must be something wrong.. Before I always used the standard seal but the spring rusts away in a few weeks in the sea water..

Thanks for the detail video. I have the F6B which others have said is similar. Mine is leaking so I need to replace the seal. Once re-installed, did yours leak at all? It looks like the seal should have had a lip on both sides so it would fit in the center of the seal.

don't you think you should have installed the seal before you put in the shaft. they have a tool for install seals but can't do it with the shaft in there.
