While I agree with a lot of points made here, the point behind the flashbacks and spelling out a lot of information is to make Indian viewers understand the point of view of a gay character. This is the ONLY piece of fiction in India that delved deeper into the lives of homosexuals and showed the nuances. Hence the need for spoon feeding.
Exactly. It made them look like human beings not cartoons

Whether a mother or father is more likely to blow up in a situation like this really just depends on the person, but in my personal experience I would say the way his parents behave in the two different situations - Karan needing money and Karan being arrested is pretty genuine and understandable, esp in Indian context. If your mistake is something small or, for lack of better word, superficial, I'd say mother's would defend you. But when a lot of the times when it comes to honour and all, mothers can become cruelly protective to save the name. The amount of stories I've heard of people who told their mother about being sexually abused by a family member and their mother burying it and forbidding them from telling anyone just coz it would bring shame and break apart the family, tells me that there are a lot of situations where you can expect more empathy from the father than the mother. On a different issue but similar, I remember when my brother was very frustrated and depressive and wanted to quit college in his final year, my mom basically flipped out while my dad was much more patient and empathetic with him and took time to counsel him and convince him to finish unlike mom whose reaction was to berate and say that he was going to ruin his life.

I think here mums being homophobic could be like ... as at times, mums being fearful of repercussions/others can be make them harsher - not necessarily that she can't be empathetic.
@technomystery83464 жыл бұрын
Exactly she thought that his father might take even harsher actions on him and hence she might had hid it....and in case of the other lady....I think accepting that fact would have basically meant accepting his own husband and his daughter's father is gay.....hence its a denial that she is in...to justify her situation.
@@technomystery8346 NO I think you got it completely wrong, the first episode has this scene where she blackmailed her husband to pay the debt so that her son wouldn't go to jail, I think it was not out of love but the thought that" what would the society say". And his father tried to teach him a lesson by asking him to own up to the mess he created himself.

The entire Asia had the same vedic culture like India still today has..untill muslim rulers spread over and destroyed many! Indonesia till today has national book as Ramayna and world’s largest temple is in cambodia! Also, Japanese and Hindu gods and goddesses are same including Kangiten (Ganesha), Benzaitensama (Sarasvati), Bishamon (Vaiśravaṇa or Kubera), Daikokuten (Mahākāla/Shiva), and Kichijōten (Lakshmi). Along with Benzaitennyo/Sarasvati and Kisshoutennyo/Laxmi and completing the nipponization of the three Hindu Tridevi goddesses, the Hindu goddess Mahakali is nipponized as the Japanese goddess Daikokutennyo!

It's really strange how you expect a mother to be angry on a lot of different things and the father to be understanding but during the actual incident, it's the other way around. So I wouldn't say its odd. Sometimes the opposite of what you expect happens. In this situation, it was that the mother beat him up and tried the hardest to hide it from the father. But at the end, the father turned out this way.

Well, from society's viewpoint handling household stuff which also includes raising and nurturing a child was/is considered the mother's job while the father's role is simply of the bread-earner who's mostly away the entire day. Hence if the child does something 'wrong', it's usually the mother who gets blamed for not raising the child properly. Therefore the pressure of raising an 'ideal' kid is on the mother. For example if the kid turns out to be gay, the entire blame would be on the mother 'oh you let him play with dolls! You didnt keep a check on him' That's the mentality.

The bride is marrying ‘into’ his family. It is the grooms parents who were worried about the bride being manglik. It was they who suggested that she ‘marry a tree’ based on their astrologer’s advice. The bride went along with her in-laws advice even though she thought it was stupid because: 1. It would allay all apprehensions including those of her in-laws. 2. It was harmless and inconsequential anyway.
