Shahid Kapoor started his career as a background dancer but finally when he debuted as an actor, he instantly became the hearthrobe of the nation. In his initial days, he wasn't a great actor but he worked a lot on his skills. He dated Kareena Kapoor Khan and they break up in a very dramatic and bad way which affected him very negativity. He was the only actor in his days who gave 11 back to back flop films. Because of his "chocolate boy" looks, he was never offered serious roles and the entire break-up with Kareena scandal affected his career badly. Director of Haider, Vishal Bhardwaj helped him to revive his career by offering him his life changing role in Kaminey, where Shahid Kapoor found his love for dark roles n flexed his range as an actor....you can see his physical appearance change gradually so that he fits into darker roles...honestly I guess his second phase as an actor suits him more and with every film he is becoming better and better....

I am a true Shahid Kapoor fan and in many of his interview he did mention that after 2013 his career path took a turn. Just came be to revisit these reactions. They're still fun to rewatch. Also, it seems no one filled Jaby in on why Shahid's look accelerated. Spot on Jaby for guessing that his break up probably caused him to look dramatically different because that was it. He had a pretty bad break up with Kareen Kapoor whom he dated the longest during his unmarried life, to a point where they just would not talk about each other anymore. I think Shahid dated Priyanka to get over Kareena which also ended up not working out then he was convinced that dating a female costar was the worst idea... (he said it during an interview)

After some flop and average box office performance excluding Jab we met in initial years as young actor he did sigh many movies just to remain active in bollywood as many actors came during his time but only few remain . He's lucky that directors like Imtiaz Ali , Vishal Bhardwaj and last but not the least Priyadarshan saw what no other directors and made him very good actor . He's still a director's actor .
