Nope, Shahid was NOT jealous of Ranveer Singh's grossly overrated performance in Padmavat, he was pissed off because he had signed for a lead role and his scenes were trimmed down at the editing table. Shahid's performance was quietly brilliant in Padmavat, as was Aditi Rao Hydari who played Mehrusina. Their performances really stood out for me and both characters were heart-warming. There's far too much noise around Ranveer Singh. Sure, he's been part of some good films and he's given good performances, but he really isn't the be-all-and-end-all that the Indian film industry has to offer - thank god!

About Padmavat- it was the other way round. Ranveer didn't want Shahid to be cast. It was Deepika that insisted on Shahid, as she wanted her acting partner to be a significant actor. Shahid's role was small from the get go, so he didn't want to take it. At the insistance of Deepika, SLB pomised him that his role will be bigger. But at the end it wasn't, some say at the demand of Ranveer. Shahid didn't even appear in the first trailer! A trailer, mind you, that caused riots later.
