The word "seong" means family name or surname, as East Asians put their family name first and given name last. It would be as if the character's name was Robert Surname. The pun would be, "hey, your surname's Surname" without any connection to the notion of last. I guess the translator's choice of using the phrase "last name" can be debatable. It's the proper translation in that it matches colloquially. Saying "family name" or "surname" seems too stuffy or overly formal. Then again, people often give leeway to translated dialogue so it might've been prudent to use the stuffy term "surname" in the translation to avoid potential confusion about an additional connection of last name/last player. For purposes within the story, this is just a pun that In-ho added, whether to supplement that dad-joke aspect of his fake persona or to throw Gi-hun off the suspicious trail about the potentially contrived nature of the fake name he gave. And beyond the 4th wall, it's likely a wink and nod by the writer/director to viewers about his choices in the names he picks. Last season's no. 001's name Il-nam meant "first man." Then again, I wouldn't put it past the writer/director to have intended a connection between "last name" and last player. Although the connection doesn't work within the Korean language itself, he likely knows Westerners use the phrase "last name" and that a lot of the audience will be Western viewers. He could've intended that tenuous connection to have been made.
