At 6:43, the son when being taken by those two people, tried to get to his mom but soon after he realized at least he needs to survive so he stopped trying and went inside in the room being agreed to leave his mom behind, so that's why her mom was shocked and destroyed at that moment, later when she is in the room with our two main characters, she tried to act as if nothing happened and tried to convince not only those two but also herself and later when she meets with his son, son was devastated that he was ready to leave his mom behind and save himself so he cryingly said sorry and mom said nothing happened she survived so what happened doesn't matter so don't be sorry its ok. Mom being mom.. Crazy scene.. I got chills there.. one of my favourite scenes in the whole season, this is the moment in s2, which created similar emotion like it was in s1 when 3 main characters lived and were trying to kill each other when they realized they have to kill to win and get out from there.

You are right that why she didn't just tell him he was dragged by someone but that does not change the result that 'son is not with his mom'. So she got mad at him instead explaining logically. Plus, she is old lady in that crazy situation. She did not blame on her son but she is also so close to lose it. English is not my language so my words or explanation won't make absolute sense to you haha. AND it's only my opinion of course. But as a Korean, this is how I see these episode and sceans.

the mother was in denial and didnt want to admit that his stupid son did not fight back to be with her but instead left her alone..that's why she lied that she was waiting and that his son was looking for others but when 001 asked her why her son did not come back, she got mad and still protected the image of her son coz she does not want her son to look bad.. mother's love right there.. this is also why the son felt guilty after the round and said sorry to his mom.

My guess is that captain of the boat is involved in this game and he knows exactly where the island is. And even without Checkov's principal you mentioned, Train to Busan became one the most popular and well made international movies in horror/apocalypse genre. So yeah, that principal is not always necessary, especially in current cinema industry, where everyone is gunning for "out of the box" plot/plot twist.

I think the trampling of the crowd would not be a good choice for the Korean audience since there was a pretty recent case of trampling during Halloween were many people lost their lives. Which is why now we haven’t really celebrated Halloween since then.

Like let them leave the island together and fight the frontman or other villain to death. That's why the mudang (a shaman or fortune teller in Korean) says Sung gi hun is in the game for a reason. Squid game and its vips take lives away for their own entertainment, but gi hun saves lives. This is my opinion, nothing official.

Dude could have saved everyone but was scared from literal gun shots. 001/Young-iL was so obvious that he wouldn't try to help much and betray whenever possible.

This whole "about to share some vital info but is interrupted" thing is starting to have the feel of hack writing. 25:17 This additional voting thing was forced in there to escalate the drama. There either IS a majority or there's not. A tie means that it's not a majority. The clause is worded thusly: "If the majority of players agree to stop playing, the games will be terminated." The O vote should've carried the day because the players wanting to leave did not garner a majority. To put it into perspective, with this provision in last season's scenario, when it was down to Sang-woo and Gi-hun, they could've asked for a vote. And then kept voting over and over again because the votes were tied, 1 to 1. 32:19 I'm not sure it'd qualify as a "Chekhov's fork" situation, because the forks were barely noticeable before the reveal with Gi-hun. But IRL, it should've been a red flag to almost everyone in there because NO Korean eats kimbap with a fork. A realistic reaction by a lot of folks in there would've been "why the hell did they give us forks with this?"
