I agree, Bad Romance was an incredibly accurate depiction. I wasn't the abused, but my best friend was, back in high school, and while that was 25 years ago, this book was still incredibly difficult to read. It was almost eerily accurate. I had to put it down multiple times because ALL the emotions came back. Anger, frustration, helplessness, all of it. Seeing someone you love in that kind of relationship, and you can't fix it or get them out yourself is a horrible feeling. So many books that sound great! Can't wait to hear what you think of them once you've read them. ❤

Those editions of the seasons classics are beautiful! That is such a pristine secondhand copy honestly. I loved the word for world is forest and the concept and world building. It's been several years since I read them. And yes, quieter plots that linger, I agree. I have heard such good things about abby jiminez lately so I hope you'll like just for the summer! And I need to read anniebot as well, it sounds so promising. Hope you enjoy your new books!!

The word for world is Forest is my favorite le guin novel. Love how short but impactful it is. The themes remind me of lord of the flies a lot too.. I totally agree with your feelings about her writing. It's very thoughtful and atmospheric, but sometimes it's hard to totally envision or get immersed.
