Same thing Mike Myers did on his episode in this series. He said he was spoiled early on in some of his movies by working with great choreographers and prop makers. He and Jack both seem like genuinely nice guys. I'm sure they both have skeletons like everyone else, but they seem to at least try and not make everything about themselves. ETA: The Mike Myers thing was a Vanity Fair series. Not GQ. My bad.

I “met” Jack in Charlotte while he was filming Shallow Hal. I was a fan of The D at this point but he was still little known. I went to a hornets game on a weeknight. Quarter ends and I go to get a beer. I’m standing in the long line (yes NBA had long lines back then, and I turn around and he’s standing there. I did a double take and caught his eyes. He recognized that I recognized him. He put his arms up in a TRex pose, hissed at me then glided off to another line.

@@daggersquadops1148 I only worry that, because many of his iconic characters have a similar energy, people will see...for instance...High Fidelity, Orange County, and School of Rock, and incorrectly conclude that he's a bit of a one-trick pony (even as impressive as he is in those roles). Of course, if they're fortunate enough to see him in Bernie or even that _single_ episode of X-Files he did (with Giovanni Ribisi), it begins to become clear that...much like Robin Williams..there's much more to him than just varying degrees of spasmodic intensity. I mean, one doesn't rack up 154 acting credits by simply playing oneself...unless one is Tommy Lee Jones, Sam Elliott, or one of _those_ iconic personalities.

Nacho Libre is really underrated. It's amazing, funny, and well made. Also when you know it's loosely based on the story of Fray Tormenta ("Friar Storm", a.k.a. Rev. Sergio Gutiérrez Benítez), a real-life Mexican Catholic priest who had a 23-year career as a masked luchador and competed in order to support the orphanage he directed, you will definitely appreciate it.

I agree that he IS that character, but I’m not super surprised that it’s not included. Since it’s an animated movie I wouldn’t be surprised if doesn’t connect with them as much as his other roles. If that makes any sense

Such a cool interview. I'm glad they just kind of let Jack run with it. No one interrupting every three seconds to add an opinion or counter-story. Just, here it is let's roll with it. I am also proud to say I am one of those people that went to see The Pick of Destiny. I have the soundtrack and listen to it on the norm still. Just a fun movie to sit down to.

@@JoyfulUniter Totally. Even if you look back to his earlier years of being famous, he had a tendency to break into voices but it was usually always the same one, like the "shedding some tasty riffs" excited 80s metal fan parody. But yeah now its totally taken over.

I still remember when he was cast for King Kong how much everyone complained that he couldn't do a serious role. I wouldn't say it was his greatest performance, but he did it just fine. He pulled off that semi-psychotic, vain director attitude, almost a bit of Peter Jackson himself.
