will ferrell’s been in a fair amount of movie musicals, like the producers (2005), and jack black is of course a musician. i’d hesitate to say actors as a whole are all theatre kids who made it, because sometimes movie actors are just not at all destined for the stage

I hope J.C. Reilly wins an oscar some day. He's just so versatile, he can play serious or evil just as well as lighthearted and funny. He might be kind of goofy and Steve Brule is a really bizarre character but he's goddamn talented and deserves recognition.

Please please please, if you want to laugh and be impressed by his singing, 2007 Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. Only the 1:36 movie ever streams, but if you enjoy it, go buy the collector's edition to watch the 2hr extended movie. To me, it is the only way to watch it. I want to edit in all of the entire music videos to make it longer. Only movie I've looked into renting a movie theater to bring my disc to play.

I know most people don't really take Will Ferrell seriously since he is always playing goofballs/insanely crazy characters in comedies, but the man actually has an amazing singing voice. I thought it was a fluke or something at first when I saw him sing in Stepbrothers, but then I saw him do it again in The Office, this video, and more situations and his singing has just impressed the hell out of me every time. If Will actually recorded an album with completely serious or dramatic songs, I would buy it so fast that it would make your head spin!

As a young Filmmaker myself, Making a comedy is by far the hardest thing to do. it's easy to make someone cry with a drama but it's 100 times harder to make someone laugh. I know it's a long shot but i wish the Oscars will one day start to take comedies seriously. But that's a hell of a long shot.

I never sit through the Oscar's, so I'm so glad to catch this. I came on this after finding Black & Fallon's truly great cover of Extreme's "More than words", and this was/is truly outstanding!

I noticed something. At 2:22 the song shall go like: "This madness must stop, there is no need to fear." But listen carefully, he makes a little mistake, and starts like this: "There is"...Then he realises how it really starts.
