Jack resonates so much to me as someone with ADHD. I love how through playing army, Rusty shows him he can do the things people tell him he can’t do, like doing what he’s told, remembering things, and staying still. He just needs to be taught in a more kinesthetic style. Calypso knew what she was doing by telling Jack to play with him!

I really love the way Rusty proves Jack wrong about something being "wrong with him" even before they talked about it. He saw Jack feeling insecure and immediately took it upon himself to make him feel better (also his excited tail wagging at the end while hugging his dad is so adorable!! ^u^)

Jack and Rusty's friendship is one of the most wholesome things ever! Being Rusty my favorite out of Bluey's friends, I get so happy that he was able to find a best friend in Jack. They are just great together. Rusty is really the friend Jack needed. Also... and that's something that you can only notice in the details, Jack and his family have actually moved recently. They are from the Victoria state, located right at the south end of Australia, and they have moved to Brisbane, which is in Queensland (right at the northeast of Australia). Possibly that's because of any of his parents' work, possibly his mother.

I myself don’t have ADHD, but my niece does. She’s very smart, but tends to get in trouble for not “doing what she’s told”. I love that this episode uses Jack’s strengths instead of his weaknesses as a focal point

Rusty is my absolute favorite character. first of all, he's adorable. second of all, he's such a sweet kid and so friendly to everyone. I love how he always tries to include everyone in his play and doesn't ever get very upset if they try to change things up a bit; he just goes with the flow. I would say that Bingo is a close second. 😃

Love Army for dealing with ADHD in a way that’ll be relatable for kids who see themselves in Jack. Doesn’t bog you down in official terms, just lays it out and explains how it doesn’t make you incapable, it’s just a part of you. It’s beautiful. The episode with Bingo walking is just a joyous Bingo episode too.

I’m adhd and autistic, only diagnosed as the latter at the age of 18. It always gets me hearing Jack say there’s something wrong with him, because I felt like that for so long. I felt like an alien, trying to study humans to learn how to blend in, never truly being a real person. Being diagnosed changed my life. Sure I *am* different, but at least I know it’s a real difference and not something that I should be trying to suppress and “get over”

I don’t have ADHD, but I have mild dyslexia. I was diagnosed when I was 6 but didn’t know until I was 16. My whole life, every school I went to, I would be taken out of class for a few hours every day to another class, meet with special teachers (that would give me cool prizes sometimes), and take special tests that required me to read stuff off of cards and answer questions. I didn’t know why at the time and never questioned it. But I did notice I wasn’t understanding stuff like all the other kids. I would accidentally reread the same line, misread a word, my hand writing was a bit sloppier than everyone else’s, I couldn’t cursive write or read like everyone else, and need constant explanations of simple stuff. I always thought I was just slow or I was a late bloomer and would eventually get it. In middle school, my progress report mentioned something about my “learning disability”. I had no clue what that was and didn’t know what they were talking about because no one had ever mentioned that to me. I just dropped it, labeled it as a mistake. I didn’t even hear the word dyslexia until they made an episode of it on Shake It Up, and I started reading up about it in my high school health book. I don’t know why I suddenly took an interest in it, but I found out people like Walt Disney and Albert Einstein, famous successful people, were dyslexic. I told my mom about it in the car one night and she was quiet for a moment before she told me the truth, that I was dyslexic in reading and writing since I was 6. Suddenly, that missing puzzle piece I didn’t even know I was missing fit into place and every question I’ve ever had about why I was like this was answered. When you feel like there’s something wrong with you, but it turns out there’s a reason you’re different through no fault of your own, you feel relieved because you finally have answers.

Army is such a sweet, moving episode. But since I noticed you try to watch eps in their original forms, without changes, I'd like to mention this ep does have at least one: At 03:07 , during the scene where Rusty asks Jack if something was wrong with his other school, Jack originally replies "No, there's something wrong with me." but in this version you watched, he says "No, there's something going on with me." I personally think the use of "wrong" hits better, because some kids really do feel like they have problems and aren't normal, and they feel like there's something "wrong" with them because their families may say that.

I’m on the autism spectrum, and Jack resonates with me too. I was incorrectly diagnosed as ADD, Bipolar and a bunch of other stuff as a kid because girls didn’t have autism in the eighties! I definitely know Jack’s feelings and had to change classes about four times one school year, so I’ve been there too. He also reminds me so much of the kids I’ve worked with as a part time special ed aide. I love that Rusty just ignores Jack’s lack of confidence and gives him more by doing so. I often wish I’d had more friends as a kid, and he’s the one I needed!

I love the Army episode. Its related to me with ADHD. Especially the listening thing, but it upsets my folks a bit and concerns me, especially when they mention I won't do good in a job if I do this with my boss. Its harmful to hear

Obsessed with all the Jack love here- it makes me so happy to know that little kids are growing up with this episode. It’s so easy to start disliking yourself when you can’t do what your told. Jack’s own doubts and triumphs are so heartwarming. There’s nothing wrong with Jack and I’m glad he has a good friend like Rusty to help him see that,

Jack actually did claim there was "something wrong" with him in the version I saw. This version has him say "something going on" instead.

As a person with disabilities, this episode is really relatable. And to answer your question, the Bluey universe parallels our own. But instead of humans there, dogs.

3:09 I believe this line was originally “there’s something *wrong* with me” instead of “there’s something *going on* with me.” I’m not completely sure why it was changed, but I can make a guess. I sort of wish they kept it as is, cuz as someone who is neurodivergent, I hear “there’s something wrong with you/me” more than I’d like to admit

3:47 this is so real omg 💀 i have good memory and i’m a fast learner, but i have a hard time applying those skills to things i don’t care about (or aren’t mentally stimulating enough). like, for example, i’ll remember every lesson and piece of information from a language arts class and analyze it, but my body and brain just shut down whenever i have to do an assignment for it because it’s not stimulating at all

Oh my god I've got ADHD and I've never heard anyone articulate the job experience so well. Like the first few weeks or so I am pretty much an ideal employee, then when there's not new stuff to do anymore I find a routine that I think can be comfortable in, and the anxiety only builds from there. Unless I can find like a friend group that I can hang out with at work regularly I go crazy and have to just retreat inside my head for the whole work day. I also mask pretty much all the time. I'm a hardcore stimmer. Like jump up and down hand flapping stimmer. And at work i have to confine myself to fidgeting with a box cutter or a pencil. And I still do that enough for people to notice and ask uncomfortable questions. Had a really comfortable work environment at major retail chain a few years ago. Stuck that out for nearly 8 years, my attendance always hovered right at termination. I even got fired twice but two separate managers went out of their way to rehire me 30 days later because I was easily one of the best employees. Went to a different store because of circumstances beyond my control going on in my life. I lasted a year and was having anxiety attacks the entire time. Turn down I was just comfortable at the other job and it was social engagement with a bunch of other weirdos I made friends with in the break room and on the sales floor that was keeping me sane. Without anything to distract me from the job the job was driving me crazy. Damn didn't mean to write a novel, if anyone took the time to read it thanks for taking an interest in my story I guess lol

I did get diagnosed with ADHD as a kid and I related both to Jack in Army and to Bingo in Piggyback because of it (not saying that I think Bingo has ADHD, but) with the way that she kept immediately growing tired unless something managed to catch/keep her interest in a fun way, because that's pretty much exactly how my ADHD makes me feel about just about anything I also experience quite a bit of bad memory and time blindness and of course executive dysfunction (just last night I spend hours internally yelling at myself to just go to bed already but I simply could not physically get myself to get up to go to bed even though I was already very tired) and I often find myself bouncing a leg or something while sitting around, I'm pretty sure I can sit still sometimes, but other times it's like I can't stop even if it's starting to annoy myself

ADHD isn’t an inability to focus. It’s an inability to regulate how much attention you give something. If I’m not interested in an activity, I will do it for about 5 minutes and then procrastinate finishing for the rest of the day. When I’m interested in, I lose all sense of time and I’ll do it for six hours without stopping to eat, drink or do another activity

it has not been confirmed that jack has adhd but he is consistently read as someone who does. There are a lot of characters on the show with disabilities but they are all adults. There is only one child character with a confirmed disability you will meet them in the episode turtle boy. Joe bruham included a lot of characters with disabilities in the show but only one child character has a confirmed one all the other confirmed ones are adults. A lot of people believe /read Sox and bluey as having disabilities as well. I love this show, and love and appreciate the disability representation as someone who has their own disability- it's done really well.

Recently past family friend members and my family, have been pointing out I may be autistic. When I was little i could never deal with change and I always had outburst because certain things bothered me, or gave me ticks. I honestly always thought i was lazy, but my sister after reading this book about this guy who struggled with Asbergers Sydrome (what she thinks i have) Shows so many signs i do. For example, if I try to clean. I have this thing where if I don't know where to start (because i need that guidence, someone there) I will lose focus and get easily distracted. I'm also hyper focus on stuff. So even though i know theres things i need to do, my mind will pass it off if i'm focused on something else. I don't exactly understand it and its hard to explain. But i always thought it was because i was lazy. But I always struggled with starting something because I always felt overly stimulated on how to start. That it got to the point where I just passed it of and forgot about it. Which is another trait apparently. I also hate when people stand near me, certain noisses, or people hugging me at t imes. It gets to a point where I will literally snap and cry or start shaking. I also have ADHD as well. In school I could never sit still and would always feel restless and the need to move around upon many other things.

I know the message of the first one is supposed to be "People with ADHD can find what they're good at," but I'm low-key concerned it could be misconstrued as "People with ADHD are good canon fodder," or "People with ADHD just need more discipline, like what they'd get in the army." Yikes.

My life has been a numb and frustrating struggle and I wish so badly that I knew when I was younger because it's so so very hard for me to function....but with America's health care system I don't know how to get any help for this...😔

“just don’t go bomb the middle east” ily so much #freepalestine fr this has to be my favorite episode of bluey just cause of how much it resonates with how my adhd was treated by people who couldn’t clearly recognize it and i’m so happy they showed things that he’s good at partially BECAUSE of his adhd as well cause is hard for people to see disabilities like adhd, autism, etc(whole neurodivergent umbrella) as valid disabilities that should to be accommodated for and if even then it’s hard for people to see disability as a neutral condition of the body and rather a negative circumstance that should be treated like chronic fatal disease😭
