F1 started to go wrong for me, when those awful, early wings were nailed on. It got better when the wings were incorporated into the body, (James Hunt era) then the driver gradually disappeared into the cockpit. Haven’t watched it for 20 years or more.

f1 went really wrong when the stewards allowed or ignored intentional contact. At no point ever should motor sport be a contact sport. Especially with open wheelers.

Dan Gurney had the ability to be SYMPATHETIC to the Engines, Gearboxes, and the Suspension components, as well as the OVERWALL package, so as to COMPLETE a full racing distance, within the parameters of any said RACE, and STILL being ROBUST ENOUGH...to Sometimes be able to get you just where you have to drive HOME 😂
