I had this cartoon as a kid on a VHS tape of public domain Christmas- and winter-themed cartoons. The songs have stuck in my head all these years. It was the first time I heard the name "Ub Iwerks" even before I knew he was the co-creator of Mickey Mouse. Thanks, Ub Iwerks and Carl Stalling, for the memories. With and without Walt Disney, those men made magic.

"I don't have to worry, I don't have to care, my coat is very furry, I'm grizzly grizzly bear!" He was singing that until Old Man Winter came. At 7:14 he sings a different song entirely: "Dear Mister Frost, I'm sorry; O help me out, please do! Take me home to my nice warm bed; I'm freezing through and through!"

I'm 15, turning 16 next year. I don't know why or how I had access to this vhs as a kid and what else was on it other than this 8 minute animation.. Nonetheless, I've been looking for this for the past 6 months because I randomly remembered it from watching as a kid and I finally found it and I'm freaking out. It was so creepy to me but I watched it over and over again and now I'm having this weird nostalgic anxiety watching it now. It's a lovely scary feeling.

I've finally got an 8mm of this in the mail today, and it was the Castle Films print, and it is extremely rare. You don't see the Castle Films version of any of the Christmas VHS tapes. It had the Castle Films titles instead of the ComiColor titles, but this version retained its original titles, not Castle. I watched it for the first time on 8mm and it was good, but there was one missing was the ending. If you go to 8:15, you will see the original end title, the Castle Films version does nothing! It cuts off where it goes to a title card that says "The End" before Jack used a paintbrush and wrote "Finis" on the window. What a waste of editing.
