True story: The fake snow was necessary because they tried to film it in Winter so they could get real snow, but none fell that year. They had a similar problem with the sequel where they set it on an Island in order to avoid the snow issue, and it ended up raining during most of the shoot so they had to set most of it at night.

Is it me or is there a consistent theme of "funny" horror movies always having a scene involving the monster raping a lady. It happened here, it happened in the turkey movie and it happened in the killer dog movie. I'm sure it happened in others too. And there are people that claim only male rape isn't taken serious. I'm pretty fucking sure its rape in general that gets treated that way at least by soulless tasteless people that think being "edgy" auto makes their writing mature and intelligent.
@konstance139 жыл бұрын
+Goatlactic Yeah, I hate when movies play it off that way. It's just super uncomfortable (especially watching with a group.) It's like they think as long as it's a monster, it's funny not tasteless. :/ There's lots of good horror comedies that don't do this of course. (Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Housebound, Scream, etc.)

alien bro dude guy Its unfortunately balanced out by male rape in romantic comedy films. In the movie 40 Days and 40 Nights, a guy takes an oath of celibacy, his friends then tie him to a bed and he gets banged by a prostitute. When the girl he likes sees him like this, she threatens to dump him, until he apologizes profusely for you know... being raped. Then she takes him back.
@Karvosh7 жыл бұрын
I think we can just all agree that rape is never funny, and using it as some form of humour is as tasteless as it is disgusting.
@markcobuzzi8266 жыл бұрын
+Hamsterloki I think that is the main reason why Phelous’ “rape horn” gag is one of the only times where that kind of subject matter is able to work for a joke, in my opinion. Phelous’ gag is not intended to suggest that rape itself is ever any laughing matter, but rather to simply ridicule filmmakers who think it is a good idea to throw the serious subject of rape into their movies in such an awkward, unwarranted, and/or tasteless way. If anything, things like that gag (along with that South Park episode mocking the double-standards against female-on-male rape victims, as another example) derive their humor from attacking some of the very people responsible for rape culture and its trivialization, rather than the victims’ situations.

You know, considering the ridiculous type of explanation for Jack becoming a snowman, all his powers, his constant one-liners and puns, I think this movie would’ve been much more interesting if it had one of the twist endings of Split where instead of being a suspense thriller (or a horror comedy in this case), it turns out to be a supervillain origin story that’s an R-rated throwback to silver age superhero comic books.

Wasn't there a Jack Frost that was a children's movie about a guy who became a snowman and became a better father that way? To be fair that movie has a more scary looking snowman than this one, I think it's the eyes and mouth, this one looks more derpy, the other one looks more uncanny, plus he opens its mouth to talk and moves its stick arms and hands and that doesn't look right at all. I'd rather see the children's movie snowman be the killer one and this one be the dad snowman.

I just been to Arizona during the Christmas holidays, and there IS snow down there, mostly in the higher elevations. I actually remember seeing the VHS box to this movie in the horror section in my local video store, and the snowman on the cover sure as shit looks scarier than the one in the actual movie. 3:05- The same could also go to the Michael Keaton Jack Frost. Hell, he even joked about it in THAT movie. 5:36- No, the bullies are telling the kid to "movie" as in "move out of the way." 6:18- The kid got his head cut off buy another kid on his sled right behind him. This isn't like that edited mess in the end of Crocodile. 8:02- That was a weird use of the SpongeBob music. Before this review, I never thought I'd see the image of a snowman raping the slut from American Pie, but here it is. The snow puns in this movie are worst than the ice puns in Batman & Robin. 16:49- Even when I was a kid, I knew I shouldn't be stupid enough to put something like anti-freeze in something I was making.
