I think it actually makes it a lot easier playing the bass with the thumb. That slide feels more natural that way since your index isn't pinned

Yeah, that wasn't a criticism at all btw, just an idea. I also have a strat with a neck that's really good for playing with the thumb. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful and it's the only good tutorial I've found for this song.
