This is such a home run concept for me. Sooo many dudes will condemn rapists, murders, pedophiles, but when it’s their homies, they make excuses based on the longevity of their friendship. Such a fresh concept that isn’t as talked about as it should be. As a small artist and producer myself with dreams of blowing up one day, seeing songs executed this well is super inspiring. Well done Jack! ⛽️🔥

"We hold accountable the ones we hold dear out of morals, but mainly fear" Dog, that line is real deep. It really hits at that feeling of like - if it wasn't for the fear of being judged yourself, would you be tempted to still stay in contact with your homies who did wrong? Are your morals as strong as you think they are? Or is fear the real motivator?

Idk if it's fear of being judged yourself, for me it's more of a fear that if one friend you trusted turns out to be repulsive, your whole crew might pick this behaviour up, almost like it's a disease. Hence the rush to cut the ties, save what's left of the homie circle. The paranoia that it might happen again...

Was vibing to the first 4 tracks & then this hit me like a ton of bricks, I genuinely started tearing up. Had a distant friend from high school who recently was accused of sa by some of our other friends. It was horrible. I couldn't stay followed to him or anything, I just cut him out, my whole crew did. It wasn't even that we were close but you just never expect something like that happening in your circle. It really can be anyone, even if you think you know them.

I feel like people don’t understand this song at all. The way I see it, it ain’t critiquing people who deny their friend’s wrongdoing, or even advocating for cutting off friends that do wrong, but it’s a song that’s about a deep sadness and betrayal and confusion that they would do this stuff, that they aren’t who you thought, and that you can’t have their back this time.

Man, this beat is fuckin FIRE. I almost wish he woulda made a different type of gang gang track on this beat. Only because this wont be the kind of song I play at work through my.speaker lol. This shit is HEAVY. Beat almost as nasty as the message within

Love how the track has a feeling of uncomfortableness the way it cuts to the chorus almost abruptly no hook, mid flow. A good amount of repition to let the idea sink in, and then flip it in the last verse. Well written and produced.

Good song and the message is interesting but i would have loved another verse going a little deeper exploring the process of actually holding people close to you accountable and the failure to do so. Feels like the message was left unfinished and surface level

@@MobiusStudiosJack I mean, the beat could easily be a Joji song. The two songs that came to mind are "Am I high, no" and "Plastic Taste", but if you've really been a fan of Joji since before the 88rising era, I guess you'll find other similar ones.
@MobiusStudiosJack
@MobiusStudiosJack Жыл бұрын
@@CarlosHernandezL I can see what you mean in relation to stuff from Chloe Burbank and very early Joji, but I also wouldn't call them influences on this as this sort of sound is more related to lofi than just Joji. What made Chloe Burbank unique was the use of samples in relation to lofi, and Joji's voice, but to me this song is more influenced by lofi as a whole than joji in particular.

[Chorus] Ride for my dogs, lie for my dogs, die for my dogs Ride for my dogs, lie for my dogs, die for my dogs Because it's Because it's [Verse 1] Home for the holidays My friend pulled me to the side like "Did you hear about Marcus? Our Marcus? Yeah, our Marcus A bunch of girls say he raped them in the back of some Target They say he drove em back there in his car And then he parked it and the rest is even darker Wait which Marcus? 'Cause it can’t be- Yes, our Marcus The same Marcus we collected Pokémon cards with The one with perfect grades that has family in New Orleans Yes, that Marcus, he’s got 7 rape charges" [Chorus] Ride for my dogs, lie for my dogs, die for my dogs Ride for my dogs, lie for my dogs, die for my dogs Because it's Because it's [Verse 2] Home for the holidays My friend pulled me to the side like "Did you hear about Kevin? Kevin who? Our Kevin What happened? He got arrested They found a bunch of messages he sent to lil' kids And apparently he met up with this 10 year old and the now the kid's sayin' he got molested Molested by who? By Kevin Nah, it’s gotta be a different Kevin Look I’m telling you it’s Kevin, that we've known since we were seven The one who's dad's a reverend The same Kevin we spend every weekend with and call brethren" [Chorus] Ride for my dogs, lie for my dogs, die for my dogs Ride for my dogs, lie for my dogs, die for my dogs Because it's Because it's [Verse 3] Truthfully it's family 'til it can't be, gang til it ain't Twins, but it depends, brothers until somethin' is uncovered Dawgs until the lifting of the fog I always got you turns into well, I never thought you Years of camaraderie suddenly disappear Almost like you never were here Unconditional love becomes very conditioned when push comes to shove And all that talk of taking bullets suddenly feels foolish Pictures with him turn to ad campaigns, you gotta pull it Feet held to the fire We hold accountable the ones we hold dear out of morals, but mainly fear The choice becomes clear And years of camaraderie suddenly disappear Almost like you never were here [Outro] Almost like you never were here
