This ending always makes me sad. The whole reason why arthur died was to save john and give jack a chance to get a life and everything that john did in the epilogue and in rdr1 was to save jack and shield him from the life he lived. For me i never think that jack got revenge cause revenge was never intended. It was never why these people died and jack by killing ross sealed his fate as an outlaw therefore making there sacrifices pointless and everything that you have done pointless. i look at the red dead redemption series and see jack as the main victim of everything

The story could start in 1919 after Jack came back from Europe as discharged WW1 soldier, and ready for one final act of American Outlaws, the Mexican Revolution. That was my headcannon; Pinkerton had too many big fish to fry than to go after an outlaw who took down one of their old hound dog Ross and Jack slipped away. Only to resurfaced when the call went out for volunteers to join Zapatista Manhunts.

Red Dead was prolly the first time I’ve ever cried in a game seeing John like that really tore me up.

We don't need a story about Jack Marston after this. This was the end to the final chapter of "The Wild West". Whether Jack was hunted down and hanged or whether he disappeared and lived on is not something I'd be really interested in finding out. It's one of those things that's better left to the imagination because the truth is generally disappointing. I would however, love to see someone go from being a straight arrow, becoming corrupted and tainted by the world around them and turning into a vicious outlaw, creating a gang and everything. The ending of the game being the protag getting that giant heist. The epilogue telling the story of how the gang slowly starts deteriorating and by the time you complete it, you're a solo outlaw with the blood of former comrades on your hands with a hefty price on your head.

I done this mission yesterday, 3rd time completing REDDEAD2... deffo one tge best ever open world games ever, i play it from 15 hours straight, at a time, games to bloody amazing, just riding around the map as johhn marston talking to and meeting strangers, going clothes shopping getting haircuts, visiting gun shops, going to the theatre most evenings and enjoy fishing, dinosaur bone hunting.. just enjoying the great outdoors and exploring the massive wildwest map of America.... So much sadness within the 2 games but in the end you feel some closure. I actually just completed the story for probably the 5th time, just took over as John and met Sadie, Charles, Uncle of course. Definitely good to see them as 8 years have passed since Arthur’s death. 4 more years and John gets capped 😬 then 3 years after that Jack gets vengeance

I never understood John's decision not to escape. If the Pinkertons were treacherous enough to hold his family hostage and double cross him, what would keep them away from coming back later and killing Abigail and Jack ? What makes this go full circle is that Ross in rdr2 tells jack to enjoy his fishing while he can but in rdr1 jack catches Ross fishing by surprise and kills him. A beautiful ending

I'd like them to keep going backwards in time. A young Hosea as the hero. He dropped all sorts of dialogue cues in RDR2 that could easily make appearances in a story taking place during the Old West's heyday. We could even see the gang find a young Arthur. And I'd like to see Hosea's wife. If they go another route, I'd love a Sadie Adler title

Yeah, the plans for the next RDR games is one more prequel and you will play as Dutch when he finds his people to join the gang. The last one will be a final sequel when you play as Jack and just live out his story, after all everyone seems to be dying. (I did a whole lot of Internet surfing)
