My grandmother, Verda Hailey was housekeeper for Montie Ritche for years on the JA. I spent many a summer with her down in the canyon.

My dad was a crop duster. We sprayed theJA during this time. I remember the daughter,wild hair. The ranch was cool, we ate in the chow hall with the cowboys. I remember “Killer Carl” said he’d kill several people and was hiding off from the law. Could be. Great time for a kid that grew up on Louis Lamoure.

I talked to Bunk recently and he seemed to be rather cautious about sharing his life stories. I will keep pestering him a bit but will definitely return to capture more stories from Punch. Do you live in Clarendon or in the area?
