I like how Jack Nicholson’s character expresses his crazy, sarcastic outbursts within the first ten minutes of the film, instead of a gradual buildup and climatic outburst in the second half of the film. It’s a unique, genius way to set the tone for the movie.

Jack Nicholson's character in this movie was supposed to well off financially if I recall. On the other hand, Helen Hunt's character was a working class who lived in Brooklyn with her Mom and son and was struggling to pay the bills, especially since her son had asthma.
