Love the information and the calm delivery. I'm 66yrs and love my jack. His name is Hymn. Because he brightened up my life like a song. We communicate well. At my age I did not need a lap dog who would encourage me to sit more than I should. Essentially he has a job. To keep me moving. Perfect Pooch for that. He is very vocal. And it is always something. I'm retired and have lots of time to figure it out. But we do. And sometimes it's simply a hug and a lic.

I just LOVE your channel!! I've been watching your channel for about a month now, but I still don't know your name. I know Luna's name! Do you know there is a National JRT Club, (JRTCA) (Jack Russell Terrier Club of America) located in Maryland. I spend at least one hour a day with Sophie my jrt. I have taught Sophie that there is a time for everything. Sophie is on a daily schedule. She doesn't whine very often. She knows there is a time for walking, going out on the deck, going out side, staying inside, taking a break from doing anything. I show her that I love her often. I think when she whines, she just wants you to show her that you love her by petting her and reassuring her. I love my jrt. I've had her for 11 years. She is part of the family. She knows that there will be good days and bad days, and that I don't have any control over that. That's life and we get through it together.

First time I ever heard our JRT Pug mix whine was when we were about to go to our swimming hole. It was the 2nd or 3rd time we were heading that way and my partner had one dog and I was slower and she was trying to speed me up knowing where we were going! I could barely hear her the first time she did it but she has become more vocal the older she's gotten. She also will whine and bark when we come back home (even if it's just been 3 seconds outside)! Lol! Our other mix has more pug in her (minus the barking and prey drive!) but our younger one seems to have more JRT traits than pug traits! Love to see the different genes at work in the mix. Both amazing breeds!

Lol the whining surprised me. My little guy just whines all of the time. I made sure I got him checked out tho and he's super healthy. He's just a whiny baby. But he doesn't care about fireworks or thunder. But scared of everything else, lol. I love this little whiny baby tho. It's soooo annoying sometimes but he's getting better. It's mostly while we are driving in the car now. He wants to go walkies everywhere he sees!

My guy, too. Fireworks, thunder, backfires - no problem. But lay a two inch pice of styrofoam across his path, and he sits and whines until I remove that "barrier." Funny boy

My Rusty is almost 13, and I have had him since he was 6 months old. Yep! The whining is real! hahaha! He whines when he is wanting attention, and that is pretty well all the time! I would not trade it for the world!

I have an almost 14 year old Jack mix (Tiki) and she is the queen of whining. She was 7 when we got her so it took a bit to figure out her moods and sounds. If she jumps off the bed and her blanket comes with her, she will whine until I wake up and retrieve it for her. But she is also the most loyal, loving dog, and I wouldn’t trade her for anything. Great channel, you have answered many questions I’ve had about her.

This is my dog exactly!! My JRT is incredibly whiny. It worried me a lot when I first adopted him and thought he was in pain. He needs his eyes on me constantly. It’s so bad that I can’t leave him home alone so I have to take him to daycare. He hates it and I hate it but I live in an apartment and don’t really have a choice to let him cry it out all day. He’s a really good boy and is super sensitive so I try not to get frustrated with him. ❤

The pain whine and attention whine was very distinctive with my rescue Jack. He lived just shy of 20 years. In his final months I did have to manage pain from a recurring eye cyst that kept coming back bigger. When it was time for meds, his whine was very airy low and slow. I called it talking, and I really believe these dogs can talk to us. My Buddy had a very distinctive sound he would make depending on what he wanted. I am getting a new JRT in just under a week. I am very curious to see if he will establish his own little communication noises and use of body language like my Buddy did. I hope so, I miss having a talking shadow made of love.

My PRT Cairn cross mostly whines when the neighbours dogs bark. She has never seen them because we have a very high fence 😢

I have a Jack Russell/Podenco mix puppy, and she is very vocal! She whines when I'm at work and when she needs to go outside, she "talks" and barks at us when she wants to play, and of course she barks at various people and dogs she sees outside. The funny thing is that my previous dog was a Beagle, and while her voice was loud, she didn't use it very often. My JRT mix is significantly more vocal - so much for that stereotype lol!

Yes JRTs are, as we call our JRT boy “ a whinybutt”😂. Whines when it’s time to go to bed, when it’s time for dinner, or a walk or whatever is going past the window. It’s their way of speaking to you…very sweet.

I've a Rat Terrier who's usually quiet when inside. When we're out on a walk she's almost constantly whining. It sounds like she is worrying over every little thing she's smelling.

My Jack likes to chew on my ottoman which I don’t allow, but I’ll slide my food between Jack’s mouth & the ottoman to prevent it, and very loud very vocal whining starts up!! It’s actually pretty funny because he’s just pissed off that I won’t let him chew on it! He has TONS of bones & bulky sticks to chew on… or maybe it’s because when in sitting near that ottoman, I’m usually watching tv and not paying attention to him🤣🤣🤣

My female JRT whines a lot and taught her brother to whine. Shiloh (female) whines to go outside cuz she’s obsessed about going outside the door and Zac (male) whines to play or get his treat. I am patient to a point but I try to trick their minds into doing something else by offering them a toy or take them on a walk.

My Sami (3 year old male) has increased his whining gradually. Omg...it's worse at night time. He's been walked, fed, has water....all his "needs" are met. He's perfectly healthy. I have been trained (by him) to make sure that all of his toys (belongings) are near him, as he used to go in search of them at bedtime. Still whining, lol. I may have figured it out the other night 🤔there was a treat sitting in a bag on the counter. I think that's what he may have wanted... They are so smart!

Yes the whining is annoying but as cookie gets older it’s getting better. When he gets quiet I give him a treat . Some whining is bathroom break and once his water bowl was empty. I learned it might mean something.

My 10m whines all the time! He whines to go out when the children are outside. I let him out. The children then let him in as he's whining to come in. I then let him out as he's whining to go out..... and so on and so on 🙄🤣 I'm with him practically all day, and he whines and whines..... I thought he might grow out of it, I guess not! Fortunately at night he's happy to sleep in his crate downstairs! My ginger cat used to be by my side all the time, now it's Freddie all day and the cat sleeps on my bed at night.

My female JRT has just turned 7 and the whining started probably a couple of weeks ago. Before the she would only whine when she wanted out of her pin (she sleeps at night in there. Nowadays she is whining a lot a lot and this is clearly out of boredom, she basically wants us to throw her a ball constantly ... Her whining is cute but I home she will ease it off with time 🙏 What is also funny is that when we say a firm stop to her whining and at the same time throwing the tennis ball at our feet she goes off in the direction of the sofa and stuffs the ball tight under it, then pretends she is trying hard to get it out but cannot and starts whining that her ball hot stick. She literally does it in front of us but really tried hard to pretend it was by accident lol

My female hates anything that's fast moving from joggers to scooters. We live in a high-rise and have a cycle path outside our building but because we're all oldies in our building the local government insists that anyone using the cycle path must stop and walk not ride. Of course many just keep riding which makes a lot of sense but not to my Angel she chases them barking all the way which entertains us tenants it's hilarious but they can't complain as it's the law..

My female whines when sheis excited mostly, especially when in the car when she recognizes we are off to the park, beach, my brothers house.You can see her brain studying which route we are taking and what it might mean.!! lol Then whines to get attention when she wants to play and will bash you with her latest toy( the squeaker is killed first followed by decapitation).
