The costumes. The first costumes did not have lore and we're more punkish in design that the girls helped with. In 2012 they began wearing special costumes which they look at as uniforms and or armor. Red in BABYMETAL costumes have represented youth. Slowly as the girls grew up wore less and less red, until there was none used since. Their current costumes are iridescent gold. BABYMETAL 101 Babymetal is a Japanese group Founded in 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal). The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (23 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka Moa- Metal (21 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a rotating trio of girls filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. These girls are known as Avengers and are Kano Fujihara (16 years old), Riho Sayashi (21 years old) ((Riho most likely is not an avenger anymore)), and Momoko Okazaki (17 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost. Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH spelled i i n e) Headbangya Babymetal Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moa-Metal, and Yui-Metal, Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Rondo of Nightmare - With mischief of the Gods Intro (Su Solo and a great expedition of the Kami Band) Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (Name means No More Bullying Forever) Karate The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all) Distortion Starlight (Don’t let overzealous fans fool you, this is OFFICIALLY not a tribute to anyone. A lot of fan speculation, end of story) Metal Galaxy Era The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it. COVID Era COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger. All shows since COVID pandemic they have done in 2020 and in 2021 have had Momoko as the Avenger. "All shows they have done in 2020 and in 2021 have had Momoko as the Avenger." That's not correct. Several of the 2020 shows in Europe had Riho as the avenger. And Kano participated (along with Riho and Momoko) at the 'LEGEND - METAL GALAXY' concerts on January 25th and 26th 2020. Starting with February 14th, 2020 it's been all Momoko though.

Covid era in the world is March 2020 to current date for most of the world. It didn't say 2020 Era so you need to pay attention to each section as Europe and Metal Galaxy was mentioned in the section above.

Good reaction. As has been said about the Kami Band - kami means god or spirit, so they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL in the Metal resistance and they wear traditional burial robes and corpse face paint accordingly. 'Rondo of Nightmare' is possibly the darkest of BABYMETAL's songs lyrically. Rondo is a musical term describing a repeating theme - they have used that to describe a recurring nightmare. Su is being chased through the darkness by ... something she can't see. Finally she hides but it is still coming closer and she accepts there is no escape and asks that if she is to die won't whatever has been chasing her at least show itself first. For your blocked videos I see Bitchute, Dailymotion and Google Drive have been mentioned, Vimeo is another I have seen used. Papa Xan's channel has some really good and more recent performances and he is building up a great collection of videos that he has placed a transparent logo over the video that should be safe for you to use. I will second the suggestion for 'Amore' ... that is another Su-metal solo and quite possibly my favourite of her solos (although the latest version of 'Akatsuki' they played at the Budokan within the last few days looks like it was spectacular). The Budokan is the same venue this video was filmed at - they are about 6 shows in to the 10 they are playing there as part of their 10th anniversary celebration.

@@jackcough4149 - The Kami Band are dressed in Japanese burial outfits. The white makeup is 'corpse paint'. They often remind people of Samara from The Ring or The Grudge. They look like Japanese corpses. But Kami means God or Spirit. They are like the Spirits of Metal. Some sort of supernatural beings who can't be directly translated into western culture. The girls are dressed like an Idol Group but with a metal influence. I think that is appropriate. They aren't pretending to be something they aren't.

@@jackcough4149 - i didn't think you were. but some have accused them of 'pretending to be metal'. Which is insane because red tutus and pigtails is not how you pretend to be metal. And everybody is pretending. It's show business. If you're not pretending then you're doing it wrong.

Good reaction, thanks! Yeah, that intro showcases perfectly the Kami Band members skills. All Su's solos are really special because she does less choreo (actually is more like a "free style") to focus on singing so she can perform more vocally complex songs. And that is amazing! Kami band wears white burial kimonos and white face paint (aka corpse paint). It is called "死に装束 (shini-shozoku)", literally meaning “burial clothes”.

Hey Jack, nice reaction. I understand your issues with videos being blocked, so I made a channel specifically for Babymetal reactors to use to avoid that. It's basically a channel with some of the best performances taken from the DVD's and applies a transparent logo over them that keeps them from being blocked. In each video there is a link to a non logo version you can watch, and them simply use the logo version for your video. Or you can just use the logo version for both. @@jackcough4149 - One thing about Su's vocals. In a lot of songs she does a lot of dancing so she's only singing at half power. In her solo songs like Rondo of Nightmare where she can really set her feet and sing without being winded you can hear what she can really do. That is why she sounds a lot better here. The story is that she practices by singing on a treadmill. I think she gets judged a little unfairly, in most of her songs she's not able to fully sing and she was also very young. I don't think she's the best vocalist ever but she's very good. And she's a GREAT performer. She always has been. There are videos of her singing solos in front of hundreds of people as young as 8 and she doesn't look the least bit nervous.

I can pretty much guarantee that you'll love Akatsuki from that same show. It has amazing guitar solos, guitar duels and Su is even better in that song.

Enjoyed that reaction Su was 16 in this video her voice has only got better over the years and the more you hear Su sing the more you realise how great a vocalist she is . Not tattoos on bassist Boh its paint . Sometimes has the venue or festival name on the back of his head . 🤘🦊🤘

Great reaction. The Kami Band are all male except for the Babymetal girls and The Kami Band are some of the finest musicians Japan has to offer and compliment Babymetal well. This concert took place in the Legendary Budokan Arena. Bands need to be invited to perform there. Legendary band like The Beatles even Ozzy Osbourne perform there. @@jackcough4149 - Ozzy came to watch Babymetal at Budokan, i think he was scouting them for Ozzfest in Japan. But he wasn't at Black Night he was there the day before at Red Night. Which was kind of shame because Black Night was much much better. This Budokan performance was a new experience for Babymetal. They were still very new and were inventing a new subgenre of music. The girls were from a JPOP group and had no experience with Metal before Babymetal. Budokan was a transition from performing more like a JPOP group to performing more like a Metal group. So there were some difficulties in Red Night but Black Night was great. That they could have a rough show and then come back the next night and have a great show demonstrates how talented the larger group of Babymetal is including the support staff and technicians.

Great reaction! These are actually my favorite Su Metal vocals And I Think they really show her range and capability! It also highlights each of the band-member’s Strengths so well! You also have to notice that Su was 15 to 20 feet up in the air on a small circle totally untethered in the dark with a spotlight on her and never blinked!

Yeah I would like to know what I might of said or done to offend them. I'm diving into a culture that it totally new to me so idk what I may or may not say that'll set something off. Try Bitchute or upload on Google Drive. Some reactors do that. If not put watermark on the video. Most block videos is on the graphics visual not the sound. Not going to lie. I stopped watching the video while the intro was still playing. Why? Because you were obviously distracted by something. There were segments of the bass solo and drum solo you didn't even watch. If you're going to do a "reaction" to a video. . . . you have to watch the video.

BABYMETAL gets blocked a lot. There's a couple of good suggestions already I'm sure you'll have lots more but hopefully before they jump at you on this one. Sometimes people just play the music and don't show any of the bands actually performance but provide a link so a person who wants to can go and watch the original video on their own
