London police, while limited by forensic techniques of the period, didn't prioritize homicides when sex workers were involved. I suspect that the media induced frenzy put investigators on the hot-seat. The Robert 'Willie' Pickton case is a modern example of police turning a blind eye to missing sex workers. Now that I think about the two cases, Jack left his victims in the open. Willie fed his victims to his pigs. A body out in the open is more likely to attract a serious investigation. I wonder if the manhunt for Jack would have ever taken place if his victims were never found.... Food for thought.

The "garbage police" were at the forefront of inventing modern forensics. They were about to catch the bastard with sniffer dogs until the garbage media (something else the British were at the forefront of) laughed them off. Jack was the first or one of the first fake news, celebrity killers.

For me the line that hit the hardest is "I don't mind that you're naughty, Jack. I hate that you're sloppy." Acknowledging he's real and he's accomplished but his methods are pathetic and not worthy of respect. It's chilling. Almost as if Hannibal is saying "you've got the spirit to be a true serial killer but you're an absolute pig about it. Clean up your act and try again" he commands control of the rap from the second he dissects Jack's first verse. He plays on Jack's insecurities and determines his response in the second round ("I'm real!") And gets Jack to start trying to 1-up other mass killers leading into the final verse where he can break jack down before finally going into a proper boast verse of his own and ending the battle as if it were just another appointment.

I want to say the other country was Morocco but I might be wrong. It's been a long time since I read it and it might not even be true or if it is true it might not have been done by the same person. a prevailing theory among ripper historians is that jack might have been HH holmes, america's first serial killer. he did have the knowledge and the means do it. plus, the timelines between when he was active in america and when the murders in londan do kind of match up. but like i said, it's pretty much a theory. but the main reason why jack got away was due to police lacking any real evidence. at the time, anyone with a knife was suspected of being jack, from doctors, barbers, butchers, etc. and sadly, the jewish population at the time was blamed as well. so it wasn't so much that jack was a genius and more the police really didn't know what to do or how to proceed.

Can someone confirm this?

Jack the Ripper is highly suspected to be a Walter Sickert. He was a Victorian artist. A defect in Sickert's penis, coupled with his failure to procreate from any of his three marriages and numerous affairs, turned him into a serial killer. The telling evidence is in Sickert's paintings. They look very similar to crime scene descriptions that only the police would know about. The paintings were of women being disemboweled and other states of murder that look very similar to crime scenes. The interesting tidbit from witnesses speaking about this artist was "he could never draw or paint anything he didn't see first in real life" (paraphrasing).

That’s weird cuz I learned from a whole thing Jack the Ripper that he did come up with his own name and left a piece of paper with the name on it at one of his crime scenes for the police to find

I think Lecter's line "But your British body's covered in more piss than kitty litter" is a reference to an obscure theory that Jack's body still lies somewhere in the sewers of London.

Just buy a cheap ass lamp and put it somewhere to your right and a little above your shoulder level. If the glare seems harsh with an extra light, throw some thin bed sheets over it. Should take care of your shadow issues

Nothing more stupid than saying Jack won because he said “I’m real”. Hitler was also real, but Darth Vader nailed that battle

He also never got caught, his plans never failed. And he’s still wanted while Hannibal is forgotten.

@@michaeljohnson9817 back in the day when Jack the ripper was around, it was easier to kill a person and not get caught, than it's now to kill a bee. And prostitutes were the easiest prey as nobody paid attention to them. Also he got caught and was chased by the police when he supposedly entered the sewer canal and downed in shit while only having several kills. So not exactly a badass story tbh

@@nodarshurgaia4301 that’s all rumors, we have nobody ever getting in jail and that’s a fact. If nobody cared they wouldn’t have been in the news, he was quite literally the bogeyman of the time. Hannibal got caught and is fake and people when this came out were watching Dexter. And Jack the Ripper took time messing up the bodies and still didn’t get caught. As far as prostitutes go only one has actually been identified as a prostitute. If you’re gonna make the dumb argument of we didn’t have the technology back then we still don’t know for sure his identity with modern day technology.

Also they say now they may have finally found out who Jack the Ripper was after finding his dna on a scarf belonging to one is his victims and they were able to compare it to dna of his actual descendants living today, and it turned out he was one of the prime suspects, he was a barber, now I only think of Sweeney Todd when I hear Jack the Ripper🤣

Stating IF Hannibal Lecter was real and everything in the movies/books actually happened Hannibal would be the superior serial killer. Why? Yes he got caught, but he also broke free and lived free and evaded police around the world. As for the "pick Ray Liotta's brain and ask him how I get mine", that was from the movie Hannibal and he fed Ray Liotta his own frontal lobe from his brain, he also saved some for himself later while on a flight and fed it to a curious child. Hannibal wins hands down, and yes Hannibal would kick Dexter's ass.
