I just wanted to add that it's amazing that cheap books make literature more accessible, and Poundland has lots of absolute bargains! The Great Gatsby for £1?!?!?!? INCREDIBLE. They also had A LOT of children's books for £1 which is so great because it will allow so many more children to access books!! However, for most of these books to be this heavily-discounted, there must be a reason these editions didn't sell well in the first place! Of course, there is absolutely no judgement here from me about people who buy 'cheap' books -- I buy all of mine second-hand or from charity shops if I can!! I chose the most outrageous-sounding books for the purposes of a fun review video. Just wanted to clarify this before the video goes live

I got intrigued by the blurb, read it and loved it so much I recommend it to everyone now 😄 (it’s called Invisible Pyramid by Ralf Isau)
@Maradrafts3 жыл бұрын
Seconding what Maria Sudermann said! There ought to be similar places in your country, even if said country does not have Dollar Tree or Poundland-type retail chains. The only thing you need to do is search for them! We don't have book bins in supermarkets where I'm from, but there are secondhand sellers, and those often have a book bin. I'd often find books on the cheap there, it's more than one euro per piece but not by much. If you don't have those, there are bookshops which specialize in secondhand books, or have a secondhand section you can dig into. And if all else fails, there's always the internet! A number of secondhand sellers use Amazon to survive these days; and sure, the shipping costs stack on top of your purchase, but the purchase itself isn't much, and you can find a variety of books at around one euro. Just be careful if you shop or order lately, as according to some studies COVID can take some time to disappear from surfaces. Read safe!- ^^

OMG I read the German version of "Love virtually" like, 15 years ago! To see it wind up in a place like this is quite surreal haha

Was it readable?

@@pia2902 it was alright, from what I remember. It's an epistolary novel (It basically just consists of emails that the two main characters are sending each other)

There’s charity shops near Newcastle that do books for like 25p / 50p ! I usually end up coming home with like 10-15 books at a time. Oops

The fact that Jack doesn't ever use the words "True Blood" when discussing the Charlaine Harris book makes me realize how young he is.
@rimjhimk13413 жыл бұрын
Same, I literally started watching the series one summer break in college. Sure, I stopped after maybe season 4. But yeah, him not knowing True Blood is sign he's a young one.
@reychawl3 жыл бұрын
Omg I didn't even think about that! Being 28 I grew up when HBO was scandalous and Trueblood was the thing to watch! ~ and no shade at all but 22 is very young 😂 at least compared to when Trublood was popular

@@reychawl I’m literally 10 years younger than you are and I was a HUGE fan of True Blood ahaha- The books were pretty shite though
@reychawl3 жыл бұрын
@@happyjellycatsquid aw that makes me so sad cause I loved the books! But that's okay, I love booktok and people talking about my favorite books, even if they don't like them. It's not that I read obscure books, but to doesn't seem that my favorite books get talked about! What did you like better about the show over the books?

4:47 I used to eat bananas fine as a kid until I was about 14 and in hospital for about a week. There was a poster I had to see all day every day talking about 'boy part' health but they showed them as bananas and, at 22, I still have a strong phobia of bananas. Now I can also have a phobia of gerkins...
