Abut of help with your french Jack: -Your in Paris, have random conversations with random people and take advantage of it. Talking to friends helps. - use pimsleur to be able to understand fast spoken french how ever it is £20 ( I think €21.00) - use anki -you can’t ever learn all the words in a language unless your superman, we don’t know everything in English, so use top 1000 french word lists to help - you love to read, once you are at a good level go buy a beginners french book and try to read it - again once ur at a good level use language transfer for learning grammar -Some tips on slang/ informal words: -Use On instead of nous - make sure you know the difference in sound between “cool” and “cul” - don’t demand e.g “donnez-moi” it’s rude instead say “il faut que on me donne un croissant” - choose a kids show you like and watch it in french - older aged shows will be harder to understand(not a slang tip) - drop the ‘ne’ in your negatives for example don’t say je n’ai pas just say j’ai pas because it’s more colloquial

if you ever want to travel in France, go to South of France!! a lot of villages have a very "Italian aesthetic" vibe, so pretty with lots of flowers and plants and there's also a village called Montolieu which is commonly called... the village of books :) not a lot of books in English but it's SOOO pretty!

I can assure you the syndrome never really goes away ! I’ve been living alone in Paris for the last 8 years and still catch myself marveling at the beauty of the city and definitely feeling like a main character at the most mundane moments. Enjoy every second, Paris is definitely a unique city! P.S: the city hall of Paris offers weekly french courses for foreigners (FLE), they are quite affordable and you can find them in your (or nearby) districts as well.

You could always go to a shoemakershop and ask if they can stretch your docs for a night. Costs like 5€ and saves you lots of pain. Also, sportstape(like white cottonstrips on sticky stuff, made by hansaplast) on the parts of your feet that give you blisters BEFORE there are blisters can make a huge difference. I’ve had my fair share of footache due to new docs haha
