The Trevor Project is the leading organisation working to end LGBTQ youth suicide in the US and beyond. It operates several programs to help prevent and respond to the public health crisis of LGBTQ youth suicide, including 24/7 free crisis services, research, advocacy, education, and peer support. The nonprofit organisation's 2023 US National Survey on the Mental Health of LGBTQ Young People found that 41% of LGBTQ young people seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year.

Got to vod the stream on a semi-humid weekend. Y'all were a crack-up; would like to see y'all do these again from time to time. Everyone together makes it worthwhile. Y'all's fundraising stream had perfect timing on Friday. I learned that the Stonewall Visitor's Center officially opened that day, commemorating the 55th anniversary of Stonewall. I believe Sir Elton John was a special guest at the grand opening. Happy Pride, everyone and everywhere! The work still continues to live life and do so abundantly, proudly, and without fear or hesitation. It's absolutely wonderful that you raise money to help LGBTQ+ youth in crisis, but The Trevor Project, despite being the most well-known LGBTQ crisis hotline organization, has so few people working the phones that there are youth who are stuck on hold for way too long. I'd recommend Rainbow Youth Project. They're a lot less known, but they do far more good. They also have a winter campaign to raise money for supplies to help homeless LGBTQ+ youth survive the winter.

I really want to see this lot attempt Death By A.I. - it's a game you can play in a browser that's runs a bit like a Jackbox game, where one person chooses a scenario everyone then has to try and describe a survival strategy for, which an AI then attempts to evaluate. It can get pretty silly as the AI fails to understand things or mercilessly rejects your attempts to save yourself. 😈

You know the perfect Mike solution that is a win win for everyone, whenever you have a fancy party where you don't want mike to ruin it with his incessant car talk put an old F1 race on in another room, leave some snacks and some nice beer and I guarantee you will won't see him at all. I can vouch for this method because I would also much prefer to watch F1, drink beer and eat snacks than socialise.

I've overloaded myself with content I need to watch. I need to catch up on Oxventures (still on season 2) and I'm watching Luke and Ellen's BG3 stream, and now this. And that's just the OX content. There aren't enough hours in the day. Hopefully The Trevor Project uses this money to get its shit together so that people that call aren't stuck waiting because there aren't enough people working the crisis line.

This may come across as a bit of an odd request, especially in the comments of a silly Jackbox stream, but I would appreciate if y'all would consider talking more about the other services that the Trevor Project provides to LGBT folks aside from the crisis line. I have no problems with the Project's crisis line in particular, but outside of talking to someone experiencing a mental health crisis, crisis lines can really only just send to that person's location an authority figure who has the power to arrest and/or institutionalize that person against their will (such as police or medical services). Given the fact that LGBT people have historically been discriminated against by the medical and especially psychiatric professions, and that LGBT people face more risk of police violence than non-LGBT people do on average, any help these options can provide comes with a much larger risk to the safety, health, and dignity of the person in crisis. This is not the fault of the crisis lines, and they're certainly better than nothing, but it is reflective of a larger failure in Western society to accurately understand the (usually lower than assumed) risks that people in crisis present to themselves and others, as well as a failure to understand the role that dignity, respect, and autonomy play in any healing process. In contrast, the Trevor Project's initiatives to build accepting and supportive communities for LGBT people, to promote education and understanding of LGBT identities and issues among both the LGBT community and the wider world, and to advance the recognition of LGBT people's dignity and rights in the legal sphere are important efforts that have a preventive effect on mental health crises by reducing the pressures and stressors that lead to such crises. This preventive approach avoids the kind of risk that comes with calling a crisis line by reducing the need for people to call such lines. I think plenty of people know that the Project runs a crisis line, but much fewer people know about the Project's other work, and I think it would be really great if OutsideXbox could help shine a light on that lesser-known work.
