while DAO is one of my favorite RPG games off all time, your franchise is only as good as your last game, and for me DAI was not a great game, it was playable and had it's moments, so if they follow the same path with Dreadwolf it's not gonna be able to hold a candle to BG3

@@wb8047 That's the turn order, so it shows all allies and enemies in a combat encounter. Some of them can get quite big, but your main party can only have a maximum of 4 people in it.

You can actually reorder your hotbar however you want! Different classes also have different amounts of spells and abilities, so not all of them are super complicated with tons of choices.

Very well scripted video... Great work... One suggestion for future videos, when you have varying subject matter as the video goes on, adding labelled chapter timestamps, along the timeline, will help when folks favorite your video to refer back to specific sections... That way they can find that information quickly, without having to sift back and forth through the video to find the relevant information later...

You say at 4:30 "You cant' change your class." - Surely you mean Race. Because we have been told that you can respec everything but Race. Meaning, you can do a full class respec to change your build.

I'm going to play wyll but start as con dex barbarian for 1 level for armor bonus, 3 as fiend warlock for bonus hp on kills and armor of agythis and mage armor trait, then white dragon sorcerer for 1 level for the ac and armor of agythis plus the hp bonus, then 2 in spore druid for aoe spore damage and extra hp, then 5 in elements monk for some self sustain and extra attack. This should give enough caster levels for decent spells, a solid ac monks with a good spread of items hopefully alot of them legendary and great concentration saves and lots of health. RP might suffer but I'm hoping spells and other characters can take up the slack. The short rests from warlock should help with spells as well as eldritch blast to keep barbarian rage up. I duno what do you think?

My first playthrough is likely going to be a Seldarine Drow Spore Druid / War Cleric, or as a High Elf Lore Bard / Great Old One Warlock. I am going to romance my Druid/Cleric with Halsin as my first choice, although there is always a chance for getting involved with Astarion as well. He may to try and to romance Gortash if possible, same with my Druid/Cleric since he is a Bane cleric and Gortash is ninety percent sure a Banite. He is going to try to get with Gortash at least, even if it costs his relationship with Halsin.

only problem i have with this game is the level cap at 12... Everything else is litterally perfect to me. I like bigger numbers (50+) when it comes to level caps with levels giving a little bit less stats boost, but giving you a sense of progress throughout the whole game.

The max level in the end system is 20. And from approximately lvl 13 and up the powers and spells start getting op. Larian has said that is the reason they called at 12. It would be too hard for a video game to include things like the Wish spell, a literal wish - whatever the caster wishes for. Anything. Would be cool for high levels but probably not feasible with the source system

The emphasis on frequent rests being at odds with the narrative of being under pressure is probably my biggest initial gripe with how Larian approached BG3. Which is a pretty minor gripe all things considered. I just wished they had gone about this in a more satisfying way to either put more consequences to frequent resting or otherwise provide a clear reason earlier on why the initially assumed time-constraints aren't that. This also in part because I feel that time as a resource is probably the most exploited aspect of D&D leading to powercreep. Forcing players to view time as a limited resource just like gold and their character abilities not only leads to more creative play, but also avoids situations where players will just dump all their "limited resources" on minor encounters and go have an 8 hour nap after each one.

I had held out hope there would be a mechanism to import your BG1 or BG2 game into BG3 and have it affect the world and/or gameplay. For example, if your character had ascended to be the Lord of Murder in Throne of Bhaal, there would be shrines or lore about him/her scattered throughout the game. Sequel only in marketing. Even Dark Alliance was properly labeled a spin off. There are multiple games that have been releases in Forgotten Realms. OK this is Baldur's Gate. But just like Dark Alliance it has completely different story and completely different gameplay. So throw in some vague minor reference to the original just to call it a sequel.

I was confused by this too. If you're on PC, I believe you simply buy the only version available (Early Access) and you've essentially preordered the Digital Deluxe Edition. You can then either play or ignore your Early Access version, and then on launch day, you will go back to Steam or Gog or whatever and download the real game. If you have a PS5, lol I have no idea If you have a Switch, you can play BG1 and BG2 with awkward joystick controls and maybe Nintendo will release a BG3 port by the time BG5 is out 50 years from now

Though the 5 gem sub races and respective 5 true gem dragon ancestries for Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer is missing. This was my biggest gripe with the Enhanced Editions. It's like... great, we have more inclusive characters in BG1, that's fine and whatever. But Why on Earth, in a game where the original NPCs still have bare minimum spoken dialogue, is it fine for your OC NPC Dorn to just randomly interrupt my game to start propositioning me, regardless of gender, in full voiceover, breaking any and all immersion I had going? I think a thousand playthroughs with fanfic-y mods had gone to the community-born devs' heads, and they forgot that BG1 is not BG2. And even though "this is a fantasy game and not teh real world!" is true, making every single NPC default sexually attracted to the player is just... ridiculous. Harem shows and games aren't just a problem when it's a straight dude surrounded by horny women. It would've been weird for every single female character in BG1 and BG2 to be a romance option too. I think it says something about what the creator is obsessed with when all the side characters are robbed of sexual agency, their identities replaced with the fantasy of being bisexual and dtf.

I wish I knew this game INTENTIONALLY took several steps back in gaming. A lot of what gamers view as Quality of Life improvements to gaming are purposefully removed from this game making every aspect of it take for freaking ever. I have never experienced more boring combat or dialog. Like was the goal to intentionally remove any form of emersion in the game? Why is it sooooooo boring?

It's D&D style. It's not taking steps backwards, it's taking the path less traveled from a past divergence and bringing it to the modern level. Many of the QoL things we take for granted now are great, but for the certain style of game that's become the norm (fast-paced action, quick combat flow, player-centric camera and exploration, etc.). The isometric classics of the late-90's-early-2000's were the closest anyone's gotten to truly imitating pen-and-paper RPGs, but they died out when the aforementioned fast-paced style got done spectacularly and the industry shifted that direction. But tabletop D&D remained and has flourished... now, BG3 is once again marrying tabletop to video games, and if you'll keep yourself from placing the expectations of the games you're used to on it, I'm sure you'll find yourself plenty immersed in a fantastic game, because millions of others have been doing so for decades now with this style of gameplay.
