I feel like the “former friend” implies it is someone who is no longer a friend. So someone who betrayed or had a falling out with Varric and/or Harding. If it was Valta or Bianca or someone like that I think they’d be described as an “old friend” rather than “former”

I loved Mark Darrahs video on what Alpha means to BioWare, it was so enlightening! In it he suggested that DAD is probably aiming for a Q3 release. Jeff Grub also said that they are aiming for a November release. This game may be just one short year away!!!

The milestone news is alone already extremely hyping and I'm personally super excited but to top that it seems the whole December is filled with new Dragon Age, especially if we get a trailer or any news at Game Awards. We are so close to the actual game that it feels unreal. Also I personally think that the name of the comic alone would fit Valta. "THE MISSING" . Who is missing? I mean yes you could argue Solas but I think it fits Valta even better. I think its going to be a fun adventure when two surface dwarfs delve deep underground together and I'm sure there's some DAD sneak peaks in there too. However those things might make more sense when the game is out. All in all, I'm more optimistic and hyped now!

I hope the character development is extensive, in-depth romance. As a player I want to feel close bounds to party members (Liara, Garrus, Tali, Wrex, just to name a few from Mass Effect) The feel for Cassandra and Liliane is much less, not to talk about the relations from Mass Effect Andromeda. Bioware : Could we please see a sequel to Neverwinter Nights with Aribeth de Tylmarande ? Talking about the impression a game character from 20 years ago left behind .. Although technically not Bioware : NWN2 Elanee, fond memories.

Nunzio Defilippis posted this on the BSN forum in regards to someone speculating if they were too busy to write the new comic: “Nope. This wasn't something we declined or were unable to do. We'd written the number of miniseries we'd been hired for, and I guess they hired someone else to do the next one. We'd happily go back in the future, but for now, we wrote what we were hired to write and they went to someone else for the next one. I look forward to reading it.”

i think a 2024 release is more likely considering how HUGE dread wolf will be and all of their distance workers. the 6mth from alpha to release we got from inquisition just doesn't seem feasible in this day and age so i think were at least 15 months away. still excited though!

I love that they are being transparent with the games development. I think it shows they really do care about what they are making and about the community/fandom. These past few years have been very exciting. With the pivot to a single player experience and now the alpha milestone, the transparency about the development. I wasnt around during the development of DAO, DA2, or DAI (I only picked up the games in 2018 and i didnt know they existed prior to that) I have only heard of Bioware "magic" and perhaps its too early to say, but it appears the "magic" is gone. They have grown and changed as a studio for the better. I could be wrong, but i am casually optimistic that DA4 has been developed differently than past Bioware games.

I'm getting really curious as to whether or not we'll see the the ability to look for specialist moves again, it be really interesting to see the combinations we could make This time around depending on what faction we choose. It's been some time now so I can't remember exactly what it was called, but as a mage I decided to do the option of being a type of Warrior where my staff would turn into a sword of light? Such a fun experience, I can't wait to see what variations we can do in dread wolf💚!

I was thinking that the new comic with varric and harding feel free to disagree with me but I thought maybe they could either be looking for valta or maybe the inquisitor. With the red lyrium spreading maybe the inquisitor took off to look for valta or maybe the inquisitor isn't there but asked varric and harding to look for valta to ensure she's safe

If there's any dragon age game that should allow for a truly in depth exploration into blood magic, and really give the player the power that's said to come along with it, it has to be the one literally set in tevinter. Like come on let us summon some demons and implement mind control into dialogue, and have real consequential reactions to your choice of specialization.

I really hope they take their time with Alpha. The majority of the things that really bug me about Inquisition feel like they should have been caught and ironed out in that stage. I didn't know about the process of game-making much then, but it made me wonder if no one was playing through the entire game before release... so clearly 6 months isn't enough. As much as I want it to come out in 2023, I'd rather wait longer and then not be frustrated by the gameplay. It's nice to think though, that the marketing campaign will probably start in a few months - I can't wait to meet the characters!!!

I'm so excited for the new comic and the new writing team. The writing on the Knight Errant comics was not my favorite, and I found most of the characters unlikeable. The only exceptions were Marius and Tessa, whom I loved in Magekiller, but who were completely under-written and sidelined in the later issues. Particularly, I resented the fact the writing team poached Fenris, made him hate his friends from DA2 , and handed him off to their comic book characters as his "new family"...almost as if they were intentionally trying to antagonize and upset fans of DA2. I'm looking forward to a book that's about characters I like (Harding and Varric--what's not to love!) , that's tied into the next game DIRECTLY, and something that will be relevant. I don't think any of the Knight Errant of follow-up comics felt relevant to the story, in the long run.

I hope they learn from Gotham Knights. Dread Wolf and Gotham knights share the same development aspects of being originally a live service model eventually becoming a single player/co-op experience and its turned over a very mixed reception.

I’m calling it: Dreadwolf will be out for the 2023 holiday season. I think given some of the BioWare and other game development fiascos in recent years, they’re going to really take their time in beta. Back planning, that year/13 month release window makes sense-along, of course, with the gobs of Christmas money that would likely be there for the taking.

Jack, I read that the alpha milestone means they are DONE with alpha. Meaning, it was in the alpha phase and now it is done with alpha and about to enter beta. Supposedly, Mark Darrah confirmed this somewhere. Anyway, I am pleased to see that DA4 will show off a city. Inquisition had too much wilderness. DA4 needs some complex structures and architecture.

So BioWare cannot say they are Alpha complete if they are just hitting that phase, that is misleading and does not follow Project Management standards. If they have completed the production phase and are declaring the Alpha phase has started they need to correct what they posted. You cannot say ALPHA COMPLETE when you are still in that phase. A Milestone is usually a point in time where a major even in your project is complete. If they had said "We have declared alpha" which means they would have started it. I posted to BioWare on Twitter asking for clarification as I seem to be interpreting it differently than you and others. As a IT Project Manager (Software Development) I use these terms as part of my job for many years. Upon re-reading that post it could be construed differently. Let's hope they will clarify!

Until Bioware starts discussing all the followers and love interests that are in DA Dread Wolf, I won't start getting excited. first one was amazing. expansion pack was... well i played the original game might as well play this one. second one was hot trash to appeal to new markets third one was plot armour and things happening becasue the writers wrote it that way not because any ov it makes sense.... and really bad pastel shiny gloss armor im sure this new one will be as big ov a disapointment and cash grab as the fallout franchise continues to be.

The only thing that matters to me is the story. Andromeda's was poor, Inquisition's was safe and lacked depth, ME3's was a disaster--have they fixed the writing? We shall see.
